Our cameras find the girlfriend of the owner, Justice, happily spending an afternoon on the town with an older woman who bears a striking resemblance to the Vixen herself. They are walking up Rodeo Drive, happily going in and out of practically every store on the street, followed stoically by a small entourage of rather tough-looking men. At one point, the elder of the two ladies looks at the other.
Honey, can you really afford all this? Especially with you being unemplyed?
Justice stops a moment and shoots the woman a playfully dirty look.
Mum, I have more money than I know what to do with. Besides, it is not like I am paying for any of today anyway.
But honey....
Justice winks at her mother and spins to continue down the street.
Mum, the man knows how to treat his women. He also knows how to curry favor with those important to him.
As Justice bounces into the next store, her mother talks under her breath.
And why exactly does he need to "curry my favor" Justice.
Sometime later, the ladies are seated in a very exclusive restaraunt with their entourage standing nearby. Justice's mom regards them for a moment.
Sweetie, those poor men must be exhausted. I know how tired I am and they were the ones lugging our bags to the car for us.
Justice looks thoughtful for a moment. She glances at the men over her shoulder a moment and motions for the waiter.
Would you be a dear and seat my compatriots over there. Justice motions to the group of men. They are parched and could use one of your excellent meals.
Uhh, miss? This is highly irregular...
I am aware of that. I am also aware of who holds the bills for this little excursion and who decides the size of the gratuity as well.
The waiter hears the veiled threat loud and clear and hastily attends to Justice's entourage. Once they are seated and drinks are ordered, Justice calls out to them.
Dinner is on the boss, mates. Just remember to be respectful or this may not happen again.
The men cheer as Justice turns to face her mother again. Justice's mother has a bemused smirk on her face and is slowly shaking her head. Justice's eyes go wide.
What is this?
You never forgot where you came from, did you.
Granted, I am not the same lass that left Toronto all those years ago, but I do try to keep it in my heart.
She smiles at her daughter. After seemingly coming to a decision, the woman crosses her arms and leans back in the chair.
Alright, dear. Out with it. Why am I really here?
Justice feigns shock. She tries to make it look real, but her mother knows her all too well.
Whatever do you mean?
Oh I don't know. Could it have something to do with this new show I've been watching? A little program called GZWA?
Justice's eyes go wide as her jaw drops and her skin goes pale.
You saw that?
Don't play dense. You're not very good at it. Of course I did. I knew you were sincere in your promise to me, but I also know how much wrestling means to you. So, I kept an eye out; just in case. And when i saw your boyfriend on tv, I knew damned well you wouldn't be far behind.
But mum....
I know, I know. I saw that so far you have kept your promise. I also saw that look on your face last week. You miss it. You want back in that ring again.
Justice gets indignant.
Why the bloody hell not? It is what I do. It is who I am.
Justice's mom gets very angry. She even starts to stand.
Because you promised me!
Justice's mom looks around in embarrasment as everyone in the restaraunt is looking at her sideways. She quietly sits back down and takes a deep breath.
Ever since you were eight years old and you and your father started playing around and watching wrestling together, my heart has broken every single day since then. When Luna Vachon almost took your head off, I cried. When Steve Austin put you in the hospital after that horrible match, I had a heart attack. When the Undertaker chokeslammed you through the top of that awful cell and you lay in the middle of that ring, unconscious, I died. When Triple H ended your career with that sledgehammer, I died again.
Justice looks at her mother with tears in her eyes.
But you found a way to come back. Bigger and stronger than ever. Every hit you took, every injury you suffered, I suffered with you.
I know mum. I hate doing that to you.
But you don't seem to realize that I am not as strong as you. I can't take the punishment. And I'm getting older. I just can't do this anymore. Don't get me wrong, sweetie. I do love you for everything that you've accomplished. I am proud to call you my daughter. But please, I want my daughter back. I want to hold my baby girl in my arms, not this tough warrior. I want to see you happy. And I know you're not happy right now.
Mum, I can afford to dine in places like this on a whim. I am living with the man of my dreams. There is nothing in this world that could make me happier.
What about that family you wanted? Are you pregnant yet?
Justice looks sheepishly at her plate.
He has been extremely busy....
Uh huh. You don't seem too terribly broken up over it. You're seriously considering getting back in the ring!
Mum! I have never lied to you! I am not about to start now. I admit that I do miss it. My priorities have changed. I do want that family desperately. I do not want to see that look on your face anymore when I get hurt. I am not a lady anymore. I do not want to risk my body much more. I have been extremely fortunate up to this point. I am retired.
Justice's mother breathes a sigh of relief.
Good. It's about time you came to your senses.
Justice stares intently at her food, her thoughts far away from the restaraunt. Justice's mother pretends not to notice.
