AJ Styles is standing in his locker room in front of a full length mirror, dressed in black and gold ring attire with a matching jacket. His arms are at his sides, as he stares directly into the eyes of his own reflection and takes a deep breath in, letting it out slowly.
AJ Styles: It was one year ago at Slammiversary that I made my PPV debut in GZWA. A lot has happened in that year. I've gone toe to toe with Carnage and Genesis, two of the most brutal guys here, and earned my first of many championships that I hope to hold here. Tonight, I'm facing four other opponents leaving me with a one in five chance of winning the GZWA World Heavyweight Championship. These aren't just any random men or women. They've proven over the last few months that they want this just as bad as I do. The difference is that they may want it, but I deserve it!
He breaks his attention away from the mirror and turns around to face the camera, finally looking at it directly.
AJ Styles: I deserve that belt around my waist for one reason. Not because of who I am or because of what I've done. But because of what I've proved I can do. I started in this company with nothing. I didn't expect my name to carry me to the top. I knew I'd have to earn it, and I went out there each and every night and proved that not only do I want to be here, but that I deserve to be here. My career could have been ended on the night I debuted after Carnage nearly decapitated me with a steel chair. After a welcome like that, some guys may have let that stop them or slow them down. Neither of those thoughts even crossed my mind. My career could have ended after a few of those fights with Genesis. We didn't wrestle each other. We beat the hell out of each other. He had something that I wanted, and I proved that I wanted it so much that he couldn't stop me from getting it.
Tonight, it's not about what I've done in the past. It's not about what any of us have done in the past. Slammiversary is about the future of this company, and right now, you're looking at the future GZWA...World...Heavyweight...Champion!
AJ turns back towards the mirror and pulls the hood of his jacket over his head, covering part of his face. With the thumb and index finger of his right hand, he grabs the front and pulls it up and slightly out. His eyes can barely be seen, but you can tell they are burning with an unbridled passion and intensity. The camera stays focused on The Phenomenal One for a few seconds before fading out into black.
