Sapphire vs. Velvet Sky
"Angel On My Shoulder" by Dale Oliver sounds off in the arena, as the crowd doesn't have to wait long before Velvet Sky makes her way to the stage and down the ramp. She hops up on the center of the ring apron with everyone knowing what's to come as she straddles the middle rope. The cheering reaches it's peak as the pigeons are let loose.
Just as Velvet gets her other leg into the ring, her music is cut off causing her to seem puzzled at her abbreviated entrance. She makes her way to the ropes, wraps her arms around the top rope, and leans back and forth a few times in preparation for her opponent.
She isn't waiting long as "She's My Addiction" by Fozzy is blasted into the arena, the entrance theme for "The Crown Jewel". Velvet Sky continues leaning on the ropes, fixing her eyes on the stage, but Sapphire is no where to be found.
She makes her presence known, by surprisingly emerging from under the ring and standing on the outside facing Velvet Sky, who is still awaiting her opponent to arrive. Sapphire puts her left hand on her hip, while shifting her weight soaking in the crowd's reaction to her arrival.
After a few seconds, her music is cut off and in a sweeping motion she wraps her fingers around the ankles of Velvet Sky, pulling Sky's legs out from under her and causing her to crash face first into the mat. Velvet brings a hand to her face, checking for blood as Sapphire slides under the bottom rope and jumps to her feet just as Velvet Sky looks up to see her attacker.
With the history these two women have had lately, she's not surprised to see "The Crown Jewel" standing above her. Velvet makes an attempt to try and pick herself up off the canvas, but Sapphire denies her, connecting with a soccer kick to the back. Velvet arches her torso, pain radiating down her spine as Sapphire drops down and drills her elbow into the chest of Velvet Sky, before pointing over to the turnbuckle as if to ask the fans in attendance for approval.
The roaring cheers echoing off the arena walls sounds good enough for "The Crown Jewel" as she climbs to the top of the turnbuckle and stands up in preparation for her signature Shooting Star Elbow Drop. Meanwhile, Velvet Sky has reached a vertical base, running over to the corner and springboards off the ropes, causing Sapphire to fall and crash down hard to mat flat on her back with a pained expression on her face. Sky takes the opportunity to cover Sapphire in a pin attempt.
ONE...
NO!!
Not even a two count as "The Crown Jewel" is able to quickly lift her shoulders up. Velvet Sky slams both hands on the mat, unhappy at the count. She stands up, and steps on the long, brunette hair of Sapphire while grabbing her wrists and elevating her upper body. Sapphire screams in agony, as Velvet Sky looks down to taunt her opponent while keeping the hold in place. You like that? Huh? I didn't hear you, Sapphire! Velvet finally releases the hold after a few more good tugs as Sapphire curls up, holding her head.
Velvet doesn't waste any time helping Sapphire to her feet, and hits her with several hard chops across the chest. Sapphire stumbles back a bit, before regaining her ground and running at Velvet with a striking spear nearly breaking her in half. Sky goes flying into the corner turnbuckle and bounces off, landing face first on the mat. Even from the grounded position, Velvet Sky is doubled over, coughing and trying to get air back into her lungs. Sapphire doesn't allow her much time, grabbing a handful of hair and dragging Sky to the center of the ring where she executes a perfect Standing Moonsault and staying in position on top of Velvet Sky as the referee counts.
ONE....
TWO....
TH -- NO!!
Somehow, Velvet just barely gets her shoulder off the canvas. Sapphire motions to the ref that she thought it was a three count, but doesn't waste much time arguing when he reiterates it was only two. With her midsection being in nearly unbearable pain, Velvet Sky uses the ropes to help her stand on her own two feet. She takes a few deep breaths, before running at Sapphire and connecting her feet into her chest with a flawless dropkick sending "The Crown Jewel" tumbling backwards out of the ring. Or so she thinks!
Sapphire's foot gets tangled up in the ropes, causing her to hang outside the ring. She screams in pain, clawing at her ankle to free herself, but unable to reach. Velvet doesn't miss the opportunity, running in the other direction briefly, before turning around and sliding under the bottom rope, hitting Sapphire squarely, allowing her to be freed and fall nearly head first to the mats below. Upon impact, she wraps her arms around her leg trying to push the pain from her mind.
"The Crown Jewel" gingerly attempts to stand, as Velvet Sky exits the ring to meet her on the outside. The referee begins counting as Velvet takes the weakened Sapphire by the hair and drags her to the steel steps. She lets go of her hair for a split second to get a better grip on Sapphire's head before smashing her face down on the unforgiving metal. Sapphire is on her knees, her head still resting on the steps, as Velvet Sky takes a step back and kicks her midsection.
The ref is at 8 when Velvet slides back into the ring to break the count. Sure, she could have taken the easy win, but this wasn't about the victory. This was about inflicting pain and punishment tonight, and Velvet Sky was doing just that. Sapphire slowly begins to move as Velvet makes her way to the outside, once more. She's just about to grab a handful of brunette hair to drive the face of "The Crown Jewel" into the steel once again, however, Sapphire gets a burst of energy, connecting her elbow to Velvet's head, causing her to stumble back, creating the break Sapphire needs to head back into the ring.
The ref stops counting once "The Crown Jewel" is back between the ropes. Velvet Sky isn't too far behind, as she too steps into the ring. Unfortunately, what she stepped into was Sapphire perfectly positioned with a back kick into the midsection, causing Velvet to double over allowing Sapphire to lock her in for the Crown Jewel Driver (Canadian Destroyer). She covers Velvet Sky as she and the referee count together.
ONE...
TWO...
THREE...
Sapphire releases her hold on Velvet Sky, as "She's My Addiction" by Fozzy sounds out her victory.
