GZWA's newest addition to the expanding interviewing team, Veronica Rae, caught up with the GZWA Chairman on a conference call to speak about his plans for GZWA in 2017.
VERONICA RAE: "Hello Mr. Xion Zero this is Veronica Rae speaking! Many are wondering what you have planned for the various titles. A few recently vacated. What are your plans for the currently vacant TV title?"
XION ZEROS: "Why hello Ms Rae. It was rather unfortunate that several titles had to vacated last year due to various injuries and departures, including the Vixens and Television titles.
My plans at the end of 2016 were to focus on the tag team and World Heavyweight titles and continue providing the best wrestling on the planet for the GZWA Nation. Here in 2017, I think that there will be a time sooner more than later where I will reactivate the TV title for the hungry men and women who want to chase for the gold. Many think that there's hard feelings between the former champions, Daniel Widdel and Chris Matthews, and myself but that couldn't be further from the truth. I wish them the best in their endeavors elsewhere in the wrestling world. From what I can gather on social media, they are doing rather well for themselves."
VERONICA RAE: "Many will be happy to know you haven't forgotten about the TV title. Is there a set date in mind for the reactivation of the title yet?"
XION ZEROS: "Unfortunately not, with the influx of women signing up and returning to GZWA, my primary focus is to reactivate the Vixen Championship first and foremost. My momma always taught me to be a gentleman, so I gotta say ladies first, of course. When I do reactivate the Television title, I want to do a King of the Ring-style tournament spanning several weeks on Primetime to decide the champion.
VERONICA RAE: "Ladies first is the right way to think. Your mother raised you right. Speaking of the Vixen's championship which is also vacant there was a lot of success with the Reinas Tournament and as you said many woman have been joining GZWA left and right over the last few months. What are your ideas for bringing the Vixen Championship back into the picture?"
XION ZEROS: "I want to start off by thanking all of the women that took place in the Reina de Reinas Dos event last year. Ashley Maldano was the runner-up to the prize that Vi Malkov holds now as the reigning Queen of Queens Champion, but she has been doing well for herself as she recently won the RISE Championship. I heard she was hospitalized earlier today and would like to wish her a speedy recovery. The Slammer signed a GZWA contract, as well as Olivia Areano. Olivia suffered an undisclosed injury and will be taking some time off while we're glad to have her sister as part of our Vixen division, the seasoned veteran, Ursula... now going by Talia Areano here in GZWA. The Slammer is set to return after settling a few of her personal business ordeals before she commits to traveling with the company full-time. The other honorary Vixens that took place in the tournament are always welcome to compete as part of the division on a full or part-time basis. Vi Malkov will be appearing for GZWA events later this year once the new Vixen Champion has been crowned.
Speaking of which, it would be simple to imitate Mary's Reinas format to do another tournament to crown the new champion, but starting on the next Primetime, there will be qualifying matches for the battle between veteran Vixens who were in the chase previously. I know that we have a lot of new faces on the roster currently, but it wouldn't be necessarily fair to those who were at the verge of a title opportunity before the title was vacated. Those new Vixens shouldn't worry - from what I have been seeing of our new additions will be climbing their way into a title match in no time. I want to take the opportunity to address the elephant in the room and acknowledge that it while saddens me that the last woman to hold this title while simultaneously holding the Queen of Queens Championship was forced to vacate both titles due to an untimely and yet undisclosed injury that forced Delta Madison to seemingly retire from in-ring competition, the show must go on. There's plenty of women still here who are willing to fight and continue to uphold the honor of what it means to be the GZWA Vixen Champion.
We have so many women on the roster right now - my fiancee Brooklyn Glamorous included, who has expressed wanting to shoot for the title, that I want to openly express that I don't want to take anything anyway from the boys on that side of the spectrum. The GZWA Tag Team titles will remain open to both genders while the TV and World Heavyweight titles are open to women as well. (Grins) GZWA is an equal opportunity employer."
VERONICA RAE: "I love that! Both genders should be able to go for which ever title they want. I'm all about equal rights. Now you mentioned the tag teamed titles, they may not be vacant but there is a lot of action and drama around them. Any new ideas or surprises you have for said titles?"
XION ZEROS: "Given the success of Reinas last year, I want to officially announce that this year's Stardom Tag Team Classic will be using a similar sign-up format. It will be open to any tag team within GZWA or any guest starring tag teams willing to participate from around the world. As a former tag team competitor myself, I would like to see that division thrive here in GZWA as well, much like this sudden boom within the Vixen division. Much like the last two years, the Stardom Tag Team Classic will begin this summer. As for the current tag team division in GZWA, I want to give the resident GZWA Tag Team Champions a challenge. At our Final Encounter PPV event next month, there will be a Tag Team Turmoil match with the titles on the line."
VERONICA RAE: "Wow! I can for sure see the tag team division expanding and becoming more active with that Tag Team Classic. So many amazing ideas. Now my last one is about GZWA World Heavyweight title. There might not be any tournaments for that one but what can the other wrestlers, male or female do to become top contenders for the title?"
XION ZEROS: (Laughs) "Being able to best Carnage and Ry Drake is a good start... But really? The best advice I can offer the men and women on the GZWA roster is to continue to win matches, break barriers, continue to smash through every obstacle in their way, and most importantly, make an impact. I keep a watchful eye on everything that goes on and I make sure that hard work is rewarded in some shape or form. I can grant the opportunities but it's the talent themselves that have to walk through that door."
VERONICA RAE: "Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen everything you need to know about all the titles at GZWA. Thank you very much Mr. Zeros you have been wonderful, as always."
XION ZEROS: (Chuckles) "Funny, my fiancee seems to think so too. Careful, she might kill both of us for keeping that joke in there.
Seriously though, it was my pleasure, Ms. Rae. I'm glad to have you join GZWA as part of our interviewing team. Looking forward to seeing more of your work."
VERONICA RAE: (Giggles) "Oh I'm sure she'll be understanding of a little joking. I can tell it's gonna be a great joy being on this team. I hope my work impresses! Again, thank you for speaking to me."
XION ZEROS: "You get two thumbs up in my book, Mrs. Rae. Looking forward to doing this again."
