Foreword: First of all, I would like to thank Katie Matthews, Morgan Davis, and Tia Brooks' handlers for working with me on this concept. It originally started as a short segment/ReAction idea, but we had so much fun with this that we decided to turn this into an epic of sorts, chronicling the off-air blossoming friendship between these four women, as well as giving you guys a more personal look at their individual personalities.Just fair warning, this is VERY long in length. That's why it's absent from the show. If you read it now, I will warn you that it contains some minor spoilers for the show that will be posted later this weekend.
This is only the first chapter of what will be many more to come. We hope you guys enjoy this as much as we did making it.
CHAPTER ONE
A hangover, an unforgettable weekend thanks to Morgan Davis’ birthday bash, and a long relaxing weekend with Serena Dent and her newborn child sums up the Showstoppin’ Senorita’s last few days. She barely managed to endure the weekly staff meetings that start each week here in GZWA. It was one minor detail that Serena managed not to tell her about that wasn’t so glamorous about this position. Regardless, Mariah took the negativity with stride and transformed it into positive energy, just like she done her entire life. In this scenario, she smiled in delight after returning to her office. Xion Zeros and the Board of Directors praised her job performance thus far and gave her the okay on yet another blockbuster match card for the upcoming Primetime.
Pleased with herself, Mariah reclined comfortably in her chair as the door swung open.
Katie Matthews is seen at the door, leaning back with her arms crossed. “So Miss Commish, ugh that rhyme is horrible... How you coping with the job? You seem pretty hot...I mean hot on the work with all of your badass stuff you did lately. I mean uh... My grammar just ain’t making any sense lately.”
Mariah laughs at Katie’s remark, “Easy there, Katie. Take slow, deep breaths. I’m not going to bite your head off just because I’m your boss. Besides, flattery won’t get you anywhere.”
Chuckling nervously, Katie puts her arms behind her back as she approaches Mariah. She sits near the edge of her desk, staring directly at her mentor with a cheesy grin. “What can I say, I’m distracted by the lack of purple coming out of your head. It’s a good look for you.”
Brushing a bit of her brunette hair behind her ear, Mariah smiles at the comment, “Thanks, Katie. How are you holding up? I won’t be going near a ring anytime soon, but you think that you would be able to get back into the swing of things by the next Primetime taping?”
Katie nods, slightly shifting herself closer to Mariah subtly. “Totally. I’m in the mood for killing some fuckheads. You don’t mind if your sister and the egotistical caveman’s girlfriend get special attention do you?”
Mariah shakes her head, “Amanda’s dug her own grave and she’ll lay in as long as I have anything to say about it. If physically hurting people means more to her than family then I’m disgusted to call her my sister... Well, more than I was before...”
Katie moves over to Mariah, putting her arms on her shoulders. “Hey, you don’t even wanna know what I did to my sister. Yours’ll be lucky if she even has her ugly face still remaining if I’m done with her. It’s pretty clear who got the good looks in your family.” She caresses Mariah’s cheek as she finishes her sentence.
Mariah gently removes Katie’s hand from her face, “Katie, don’t. I know you’re thankful for what I’ve done for you, but let’s not go down that road shall we? Besides I don’t want to see you winding up like Cheeka for getting involved with me.”
Practically throwing her arms behind her back, Katie anxiously stutters. “Wait, did you thi-No, I was just trying to comfor-Oh shit...I’m not dumb enough to actually try to...Trust me, all I want to do is seriously hurt people. You’re kinda sorta my boss, and my friend. I’m not going to end up like Katrina. I’m too damn smart and young for that.”
Mariah sighs, “So was she. She got mixed up in a lot of the wrong stuff. By the time I met her, she was already too far gone down that path to break free. The only thing I could do was offer her an alternative. But you’ve been intimate with her, you should know her better than I have.”
Katie puts her hands over her head, letting out a loud groan. She stomps to Mariah’s desk and slams her hands on it. “I’m quite aware of that, thank you. I’m still recovering from the blood leaking from my head and my bloody black heart. I’ve been in a lot of wrong stuff myself, but I’m taking your alternative by being here right now. Do you trust me?” Katie extends her hand out, while facing the ground in sorrow.
Mariah narrows her eyes at Katie’s semi-breakdown on display here. It was not anything new to see her students break down like this - not during training and not after in their wrestling careers and when life hands you a few bad apples. She sighs, “A better question is if you trust me? You’ve considered me your adversary for almost the entire duration of your career here in this company. Why should I have any malice for you?
I have stuck my neck out and got your foot in the door with a spot on the roster in a time where women in this company were very few. I watched you align yourself with one of the most diabolical women in the business only to continue to stand at your side as one of your biggest supporters in no matter what you decide to do in this business. So tell me why do you have gall to ask me if I trust you? You should know that answer already, or do you want my cracked ribs and bruises to tell you that?”
Katie drops her head on the desk, slamming it full force before sliding herself to the ground. She remains silent for a brief moment before talking slowly. “Yeah, you’re right. You’re always BLOODY right. I’m a fucking idiot and you’d always buy my latest load of crap. And it’s only now that I actually appreciate it. God, I must make you want to puke sometimes.”
Mariah stands up from her desk to look over the edge to see if Katie’s alright. She had forgotten how much of a wildcard this young woman was. She was even more radical to train prior to inviting her to GZWA but she couldn’t help but admire her fiery spirit.
Breathing a sigh of relief that Katie did not render herself unconscious, Mariah scolds her, “Hurting yourself is only going to make it even easier for your opponents to defeat you in the ring. Or do you want to have even more in common with Cheeka’s companions nowadays? You keep this lifestyle and reckless behavior, you’re destined for a future down that dark road she is walking down.”
Three knocks on the door brings attention to the two, curious at who would be behind the door at this time. The door quickly opens, entering Mariah’s friend, “The Georgia Peach”, sporting a black corset top with matching leather pants and stilettos. Her smile darting directly towards Mariah, while the sound of clicking from below dies down from the carpet flooring.
“Hey, gir..”
Morgan pauses to see Katie lying down below Mariah. Her smile lowering a bit. Morgan is still not familiar with Katie, physically, socially, and mentally. Even after months of being in the federation, she doesn’t know anything about her. Where is she from, and what she likes to do? Nothing, but it‘s not like Morgan can’t start now.
“Hey Katie....”
Katie smirks as she slides up into a seating position, leaning back on Mariah’s desk. She rolls her eyes at Morgan for a brief moment before looking at her position and sliding out a smirk. “Hey Peachy. Still dealing with the Slipknot Jackass reject or am I going to be getting your little lap dance move for being here first?”
Katie’s comedic moments are strange at best, and all Morgan can do is chuckle, especially the “Slipknot Jackass” comment. They have nicknames galore for that man, and Morgan is glad about that.
“Girl, that Chihuahua in a mask is sitting in his little baby crib trying to cope with his several losses. He’ll be out in a moment against Shia, but in case he tries to act like a bitch some more, I’ll be sure to regulate. I have other things to settle too.”
Standing up, Katie puts her hands in her pockets and leans back on the wall. Do share with the “boss” and me. It’s not like anythin’ interesting was going on in here beforehand...” she shifts a glance at Mariah. Morgan following after her.
“Oh, I know what’s going on.”, Morgan assumingly states, “The whole world knows. Her former friend stabbing her in the back and becoming a regular at the local lesbian club.”
Mariah chuckles a bit, “I’m not touchin’ that one. Seriously though, Morgan, what brings you here? I thought you did enough damage to me after that crazy birthday party of yours.”
Morgan laughs in response to Mariah’s reminiscing moment. “Girl, that’s actually why I came. To see if you were fully recovered from that hangover.”
Mariah runs her fingers through her hair, laughing, “Of course, but I have to be careful the next time partying with you. And I used to think that Cheeka and I used to hit the clubs hardcore... You made me feel like a lightweight that night!”
“Oh I bet.”, Morgan wittingly stated with another laugh after.
“Maybe we can take Katie out sometime and pull that stick from out of her ass,” grins Mariah glancing at the glare that Katie was giving her for that remark. Katie responds with a smirk and gives a sarcastic chuckle.
“I’ll personally pull that stick out of my arse and beat the bloody crap out of you if you even try it.”
Mariah adds, “It would be bloody wouldn’t it? That everlasting period of yours needs stop sometime...”
Katie grunts angrily just before a loud voice is heard from the other side of the door. “Mariah, are you in there? Oh well, I am coming in anyways.” In walks Tia Brooks. “Oh, did I come in a bad time, I don’t want to ruin your girl’s little slumber party.” Tia laughs as she waves to Katie and Morgan. Morgan waving back with a smile. Katie rolling her eyes and giving a sarcastic wave back.
“Wow, looks like some of you are unhappy to see me. Look ladies, I know some of us have had our differences, but lets put all of that behind us now. I respect each one of you in this room. Unlike the rest of these prissy chicks in the locker room.”
Mariah looks surprised as Tia Brooks enters the room unannounced, with the room becoming increasingly crowded with the sheer amount of GZWA Divas in the room. She laughs off Tia’s remark before adding her own rebuttal, “Respect is such a delicate word to be tossing around here, Tia. No one said you weren’t welcome, but fortunately, this isn’t a rather busy workday so I don’t mind all of these visitors in my office.”
Glancing back to Katie before rolling her eyes to Morgan, she continues, “Tia, I haven’t had a problem with you before when we’ve met in the ring several times before this company even opened and even now, when I know you must have some motive for coming here too. That’s one thing I know all of the Divas have in common in this company - we all crave power and glory.”
Katie interrupts, “I don't.”
The girls have an awkward silence briefly, staring at Katie with Mariah then breaking the silence. “So tell me, Tia, what really brings you here?”
Tia smiles at Mariah. “I am glad that you asked. I am here because I feel that we haven’t had a good chance to get to know each other. I have been here for quite some time. Heck, I haven’t gotten the chance to really get to know any of you ladies. So why not start now? Mariah, I know that running this company could be tough, so why not hire an assistant? I am pretty good at keeping things in order and I know that as of late, this place has been chaos, especially the Diva’s Division. You know how I feel about most of these girls here and their so called in ring abilities. They aren't anywhere near ready for this company, so why not whip them into shape. I can help you come up with so many ideas. It wouldn’t be a problem to have these ladies join. Just think, with our help Mariah, we can make the GZWA better than ever. What do you say MiMi?”
Mariah sighs, “Serena left me in charge a little than a few weeks ago and everyone has been hounding me for a piece of this power. I appreciate the offer, Tia, but I think I can manage. Besides, Serena wouldn’t have left me in charge if she didn’t think I could handle this and rise to the occasion.”
She grins, “You had a better sales pitch than Punk did though...”
Tia nods her head. “Fair enough, but if you do happen to change your mind, you know where to find me. It would be a honor to work with you outside of the ring sometime.” Tia looks around the room at the other ladies. “So, may I ask how everyone is doing? Dish, dish, I love gossip.”
“Well...” Morgan adds as she walks towards a chair in front of her, “As it turns out, there is some “tea” being told about one of our GZWA superstars out there. Unfortunately, I can’t confirm it just yet, so I have to look into it. The internet, obviously. For now, I’m just going to cruise a bit on Hot Ass Mess of the Moment, but believe, I will find out about it. I always do.”
Mariah grins, “That’s my girl. I knew I choose wisely when I passed the Hot Ass Mess to you. Speaking of of hot ass messes... tell us Katie, exactly why you don’t drop the suit of armor and open up to us. We’re not going to bite... much anyway.”
Katie crosses her arms and looks away from the group, sneering. “Not bloody likely.”
“Oh c’mon, Kitty Kat. You’re not any fun at all. I have a stapler in my desk drawer. Do you want that for some entertainment if you’re not going to play with the rest of us?” Mariah asks.
Sighing, Kat turns back around and looks at her best friend. She emphasises her disgust by doing another sigh, dragging out. “What in the name of bloody God would you have me do?”
“Uh Oh.”, Morgan quickly interrupted, “Miss Kitty had a little Meow Mix this morning.”
“What the hell is that? I don’t do drugs.” Katie rubs her head in angered confusion, sitting down.
Morgan looks back at Mariah for a quick moment. Confusion in her eyes as she arched her eyebrows. Out of nowhere, she bursts into laughter at Katie’s perplexed look.
“Girl, what is wrong with you?”, Morgan adds to bring more understanding to Katie, “Why do you feel so tense? We’re just asking for....I don’t know....an alliance. Friendship, too.”
Mariah chuckles at Morgan’s remark, “An alliance? Morgan, you’re making this blossoming friendship of ours sound like the formation of an all-girls New World Order or something.”
“You could say that.”, Morgan replies, “We can all agree that GZWA sure needs some......maturity around here, especially with John Cena around thinking about “cleaning” shit up. He needs to take several seats with that hot ass mess.”
Mariah adds, “Ugh, tell me about it. I still can’t believe that Xion actually signed his contract, along with a few token others, especially that lunatic Tina Angel.” Looking back at Katie, Mariah utters, “Oops, sorry. Touchy subject for Kitty Kat. Word in the locker room is that Tina’s taking Cheeka for a ride...literally.”
Katie simply balls her hands into fists and tightens her eyes, giving a death glare at Mariah. “I’ll fucking kill her and her boyfriend by stabbing their throats with a spoon. The dullness’ll hurt more...”
“Not like that’ll affect her.”, Morgan adds before sitting on the chair in front of her, crossing her left leg over her right. “She’s known for being forked anyways.”
"Ugh, whatever..." After putting her hands over her face to groan, Katie lies back on the wall in her seated position, snatching the stapler from Mariah's desk. "Why do I have a feeling the so called "alliance" you lot want involves making me more like you all which is... not me at all?"
Mariah pats Katie on the shoulder, “I was only kidding about that. We know you’re not really the most openly social person in this room, but the only thing that we’re asking is a bit of trust. You should know that we care about you. Now we’re just asking if you would trust us a bit and let us into your world.”
Katie continues fiddling with the stapler, speaking with half of her attention focused. “How about no? You people socialise, and I’ll just watch.”
Mariah sighs before beginning her tale that should sound very familiar to Katie, “How about I tell you a story? During my time on the indies, I’ve met several talented girls - many of which that I have given honorable mention to Xion when he was constructing the women’s division for this company. There was one in particular that stuck out the most to me. It was a moody little blonde girl who the locker room and fans took pot shots at teasing her. After that particular show, I introduced myself to her as I was impressed with her spirit and determination. Back then, she spit in my face for just saying hi to her. A few weeks later, she began showing up at my wrestling school. She was always late, but she always managed to put in the effort to learn. Many thought that ‘ugly duckling’ wasn’t going to make it in this business; hell, many still doubt her. But I’m positive that our little duckling is going to grow into a swan. That is - if she ever stops hanging around the blackbirds...”
Katie responds with a sneer and rolling her eyes, throwing the stapler at the door. “Sounds like a bitch... She probably wouldn’t go hanging around with people, which is why I’m sad that I’m not her and actually fall to peer pressure.”
Ignoring Katie, Mariah continues, “Eventually, this young woman approached me after one of our sessions. I was concerned that she missed the full class, but she removed her hoodie and showed me her arms were covered in scars. Bruises decorated her body. The only thing she could and would tell me is that the pain wouldn’t go away...”
Mariah looks sternly at Katie, “I told you then and it stands true now and as long as there is breath in this body, I’m here for you. It won’t be the end of the world if you just move on. You’ve seen Cheeka hasn’t hesitated for a moment to move on. She has forgotten about anything special she’s had with you and especially with me after what she did at Slammiversary. You’re stronger than this, Katherine.”
After briefly sitting in silence with a blank expression, Katie facepalms and groans. “God damn it, Marisol. You people will owe me for putting me through disgusting torture.”
Mariah leans over and hugs her, “Don’t be like that. Being surrounded by friends is always the best medicine for any ailment.”
Katie pretends to gag and passes a look at Morgan and Tia. “One of you two please say something to end this sappy shit before I puke on the commish and get fired.”
“To sum shit up, Cheeka needs her ass whooped for what she did.”, Morgan ever so confidently states. “And it turns out she crawled to her little top girlfriends to back her up, and knowing her if Mariah gets the upperhand, shorty and her man are gonna try to jump her. That’s where we come in. To regulate from any unfair treatment...”
Morgan looks at the girls, realizing that their stable is one more girl over their enemies.
“Well, I guess I’ll take “unfair” back, but before this whole thing comes about, I got one more person to deal with. Oh....”
Mariah sits back down into her chair before adding, “You know I can’t get anywhere near a wrestling ring anytime soon, so I’m sad to say with a heavy heart that I’m going to let the rest of you handle the ‘good’ stuff.”
Morgan looks over her shoulder to Tia with a smile.
“Someone’s got an eye for you, Tia. I heard he’s been barkin’ like a bitch’ about you and everything. All in typical bitch behaviour.”
Tia takes a moment to wipe her tears after that beautiful Hallmark moment between Mariah and Katie. She turns her attention to Morgan. “Oh yeah, who would that be?”
“Well, you should easily guess. He got out of his muzzle earlier.”
Mariah snaps her fingers, “Oh I know, Courage the Cowardly Dog!”
“That was my favourite show as a child, do NOT insult that!”
“Well, you got the coward and dog part right.”
Tia laughs. “I think I know who she is talking about. Nowadays, guys can’t get enough of me. It was so amusing to hear him call me the C word. I mean, I know it is obvious that I have charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, but you don’t have to tell me twice. Besides, why would I listen to a little...” Tia coughs. “Bitch anyways. I think it is fun to get inside Joel’s head with you Morgan.” Tia looks at Katie for a moment. “As for you Miss Katie, we have had many of battles in the past, but as of now, let's call a truce. I think a new friendship will be great for all of us.” Katie responds with a shrug and turning away. Tia then turns her attention back to Morgan. “So, what do you have planned next for the little dog if you don’t mind me asking?”
Morgan looks at Mariah with confusion. It turns out that Mariah has another surprise in store for Morgan “As a matter of fact, that’s another reason I’m here.”
Mariah looks a bit nervous before looking back at Morgan. “I know you’re wondering why I didn’t book you in a follow-up match against Joel, but the truth of the matter is that I’ve hired you a bodyguard - namely Double S. I saw how well you both worked together on the last show, so I figured it would be natural fit for him to finish the job that he started at Slammiversary. Morgan, I couldn’t live with myself if I allowed that freaky little gnome do to you what he did to his own brother. If he would go that far with his own flesh and blood, I can’t imagine how far he would go with someone else that’s not even of his own family.”
Mariah adds, “Morgan, I know you’re a big girl and can take care of yourself, but as your friend, I hope you’re not upset that I made my own decision to protect you from harm.”
Morgan leans up to her seat, “You mean I’m going to face him and not Shia?”
“It’s actually the opposite. Shia’s going to help you put the dog to sleep for good.”
“Well, I just hope that dog finally gets euthanized.”
Mariah suddenly gets a devilish idea, “You know, since we’re on the topic of bitches, do you think you can put down the one that got off her leash and bit the hand that fed her?”
“How exactly?”, Morgan asks in curiosity, “Sounds like you have something planned for her too.”
“Xion hasn’t exactly revealed the air date for the next PPV, but I can go ahead and pencil this in for the card. The team of Morgan Davis and Double S versus the team of Joel Hall and Cheeka. How do you like those peaches, Morgan?” Mariah grins, clearly stealing her catchphrase.
Morgan switches her crossing legs as she looks up to the sky in thought over the future match. She considers it a dream match for now.
“I wouldn’t mind kicking her ass for once. Might bring some satisfaction.”
Tia raises her hand with one of her eyebrows up. “My I chip in an idea? This is just an idea to spice things up so you don’t have to agree, but why not throw in a special enforcer? I don’t think I will be too busy?”
Mariah’s perk up at the idea, “That could work. We know those ‘MisFits’ that Cheeka calls her friends will definitely won’t play fair so why not. Hell, Katie can join in the fun too if she’s not afraid to get down and dirty with her former fling...”
Tia smiles. “I am happy that you agree. Besides, I think my ass looks great in stripes. Tia laughs. “Also, I know it will be satisfying for both Morgan and myself to see the look on Joel’s face, wouldn’t you agree Morgan?”
“Of course, Tia.”, Morgan replies with yet another wicked laugh up her sleeve.
All of the women share a laugh as Mariah looks around the room, “Ladies, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...”
This is only the first chapter of what will be many more to come. We hope you guys enjoy this as much as we did making it.
