The camera is closely zoomed in on a navy blue and white P1 symbol adorning the hood of AJ Styles' jacket. The camera slowly zooms out until his entire body is revealed in the frame.
As the surroundings become more visible, it's noticed that they are in a less frequented area of the arena. The large room is dimly lit by only two low wattage light bulbs, each of which dangling from their cords on either side of the room. Heavy cables and wires can be seen strewn across the concrete floor being held in place with thick electrical tape.
The Phenomenal One is standing facing one of the walls on the far side of the room. However, unlike the other three walls in the room, this one is one of the walls from the steel cage that less than a month ago had contained both himself and The Voluptuous Vixen, Justice. The steel glistens in the dim light, as AJ reaches up and grabs a hold of it with his gloved hands, one a little higher than the other, as if preparing to climb, but his feet remain grounded.
The night I won the GZWA Heavyweight Championship, I became a target, but I knew that I would. Anyone who knows anything about this business knows that if you don't have the championship as your goal, you're here for the wrong reasons. But what are your goals once you've achieved what you set out to do? What do you have to look forward to once you've made it to the top?
Some people would say that the only place you have to go is down. After all, you've won the big one. You've made it to where only the best in the business have been, and still fewer continue to succeed. Some people would say that...but not AJ Styles.
Some people think that the day you earn the championship is the day that the countdown begins. The countdown begins because sooner or later, you're going to fail. You're going to get beaten and then you're back to where you started with nothing to show for where you've been. Sure, your name gets written down in the books, but you're not alone. Your name gets added to the list of others, who one time stood out as champion, but failed and exist now only in the memories.
The legacy of AJ Styles will not just be a memory. It didn't die when I left the other company to come into GZWA. It didn't die when I lost the Television Championship to Genesis last year. It won't even die when I achieve all that I can in GZWA. No, the legacy that I continue to create will be felt for as long as this company is in existence.
Tonight, Mei Long and I team up against two opponents who would love to see that legacy end. "The Superior God" Double S and "The Voluptuous Vixen" Justice. These two competitors have not only left their mark on this company, but on me personally. They've proved that they're willing to do whatever they have to do to get me to break!
As he speaks the last few words, his grip on the cage wall tightens as the rattling of steel echoes through the room. Styles, not usually known for this type of behavior, has seemingly lost it, as he repeatedly slams the metal into his forehead.
Finally, AJ turns around facing the camera. He whips his head back, causing his hood to fall back exposing his face with several small cuts on his forehead where he had slammed the cage wall into his face with streaks of blood slowly starting to trickle down.
DO YOU SEE THIS?
He points to the open cuts while screaming out.
DO YOU SEE THE PUNISHMENT THAT I AM WILLING TO PUT MY BODY THROUGH?
By this point, his breathing is shallow and heavy. He wipes the blood away with the side of his hand, smearing it across his forehead almost like a warrior prepared to go into battle.
I hope the entire GZWA locker room remembers this moment for a very long time. I am the GZWA Heavyweight Champion and I will lose blood, sweat, and tears to defend what I have busted my ass for the last two years to earn.
Double S? You can yourself "The Superior God" but let me tell you something. I only believe in one God.
Styles points upwards.
That one up there. The Father who sits upon the Holy Throne with His Son by His side is the only one who has any justification to call himself God. You, Double S, have proven nothing that would classify you as Superior, let alone a God. When you've walked through the fire on your way to the throne, taken your body and sacrificed it to this business like I have, then, and only then do you have any right to call yourself anything.
Justice? This should look familiar.
He turns back to the steel, rattling it a bit.
These were on all four sides of us less than a month ago at Final Encounter, but just because they won't be around us tonight doesn't mean that you'll have any easier of a time in that ring. It doesn't matter what type of match I'm in. I will not break and I will not fail. You may think that each day that I hold the GZWA Heavyweight Championship is another day closer to the day when I will screw up and fail, but you and everyone else have it all wrong.
Every day that goes by while I hold the championship is another day that I've succeeded. It's another day that I've shown why I deserve to be at the top level of this company. Not because I'm AJ Styles. Not because I'm better than anyone else. Not even because of this so-called alliance with Xion Zeros. No, I deserve to be at the top level of this company because over the past 2 years, I've come up from ground zero and fought, scratched, and clawed my way to the top. I wasn't given a damn thing because of who I am or what I've accomplished in other companies...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I will compete in any type of match. I will compete against any opponent, and I will compete with or without the GZWA Heavyweight Championship on the line because I am creating a legacy. I will do whatever it takes and sacrifice my body for GZWA Nation and for this championship each and every day. Not because my days as champion are numbered, but because this is my dedication to the business. This is my dedication to GZWA, and this is my dedication to remaining phenomenal.
So, Double S and Justice? Your turn to step in the ring with me is tonight. Everyone else's time is coming.
AJ takes a few steps away from the wall towards the center of the room and raises his gloved hands up into view of the camera, with his interlaced fingers forming the P1 symbol. The camera remains focused on the symbol while slowly fading to black.
