History & Biography
In mid-2012 CM Punk arrived in GZWA and announced he signed with the company but under a non-competing contract, dubbing himself “The Best MANAGER In The World” and revealed he would mentor GZWA Superstar Dean Maddoxxx. Soon after in the New Year, he also began mentoring diva Lise Starr who had been heavily drinking to deal with her depression. The group was named the Straight Edge Society after interrupting an edition of the Hot Ass Mess moment hosted by Morgan Davis and Tia Brooks. For the entire year, “The Best Manager In The World” mocked various superstars including the GZWA Television Champion Genesis. The two men were booked in a match for Slammiversary III which was a long time away. Genesis dealt with his championship defences and on-off relationship with Sapphire while Punk continued to mentor Maddoxxx and Starr.
Lise Starr was feuding with Punk’s former student/flame Tia Brooks and occasionally Morgan Davis. Supporting Lise was her best friend AJ Lee (who ironically was another former fling of Punk’s). Lise defeated Tia in a singles match at Riot Control 2013, causing her rival a back injury which sent her out of action. Later that night Lise became closer with CM Punk who she had been crushing on for a while. Unknown to Lise, AJ Lee kissed Punk earlier in the night as a way to “distract” him from her best friend, the plan didn’t work. Although she soon found out, the women remained friends… until a few weeks later where a psychotic AJ Lee viciously attacked her best friend due to their ruined “perfect friendship”. Realising what she had done, AJ attempted to apologise to Lise the next week, who responded with a Superkick to the face. With this now clearly over friendship, the women became bitter enemies. With months of cruel games and tactics by AJ Lee and brawls by the ladies, Lise Starr defeated AJ Lee in a Street Fight at Slammiversary. Later that night in the main-event of GZWA’s biggest show of the year, CM Punk fought Genesis in a 60-minute Ironman Match, possibly the greatest match in the company’s history. The match ended when the clock’s time ran out without any pinfalls. GZWA Chairman Xion Zeros restarted the match under sudden death rules soon screwing Punk by demanding for the bell to be rung when Genesis had applied the Scorpion Deathlock.
On the final show of 2013, CM Punk demanded to know why Xion caused the “Slammiversary Screwjob”. The GZWA Chairman claimed that his actions were due the problems and hassles of Punk’s contract and to hurt the ego of Punk. Xion claimed that if CM Punk were to lay a hand on him, he along with the Straight Edge Society would be fired. Soon after, the boss booked Dean Maddoxxx in a match against his new enforcers Dequan Wallace and G-Money Briggs. The Enforcers destroyed Maddoxxx which sent him being stretchered out of the arena. Lise Starr’s rivalry with AJ Lee was far from over thanks to the former claiming that her former best friend was “dead” to her. AJ responded with attacks and mocked her about the chances of her getting fired. On the January 3rd edition of Primetime, CM Punk finally attacked Xion Zeroes which led to the firing of himself and his SES team-mates.
On the January 24th episode, AJ Lee revealed a video to the GZWA Nation of her attacking the recently fired Lise Starr and keeping tied up in her very own apartment for a night of cruel games. On that show’s Reaction, a furious CM Punk and a bruised and battered Lise Starr approached Xion Zeroes in his office. Punk threatened the boss by claiming that he could have taken legal action but didn’t because Lise wanted her job back and the chance of getting revenge on AJ. The boss made a deal that they could get their jobs back if they defeated him and AJ Lee…
