Muehlhausen:“Welcome back to the BetweentheRopes.com Radio. This is Steve Muehlhausen. It’s Friday night, The Third of May, and the weather is getting a little colder than what it was a few days before.
In Wrestling news, There is a Pay-Per-View that has been on the minds of not only New York regionals, but the country, the entire world. Lucky for us, WWE isn’t having their Pay-Per-View planned for a while, so we get to talk about the real deal Holyfield. We’re talking about the Epitome of Wrestling here in New York City. Ground Zero Wrestling Association’s Riot Control making a return into everyone’s televisions and streams. The main event where many superstars and divas duke it out until one is the last one standing. I know I’m very excited about this up-incoming show. There has been ads everywhere I’ve walked in New York City about the PPV. Z has unquestionably up’ed his marketing game. He wants every seat filled in the arena, and believe that I will be attending as well.
Of course we couldn’t converse about Riot Control without special guests, and tonight we just happened to grab some GZWA superstars from the gyms and to our station. Let’s welcome to show the champions of Ground Zero Wrestling Association: Heavyweight Champion A.J. Styles, TV Championship Genesis, and Women’s Champion Mei Long, but really. You all don’t need introductions with how much of a great impact you three have on the show. We’re grateful to have you all on the show.”
Styles: It’s great to be here.
Long: "Thank you for having us here, Steve."
Muehlhausen:“Even though everyone can’t see this, I can feel the heat in this room building up with these three in the room. So much tension. (laughs). We’ll assure everyone that the conflict in Primetime is also real outside of the arena.
A.J., I know you have a great history in wrestling, but GZWA has put you on the map here in New York, and it has been proven with the number of competition. Not only Genesis, but Shia Storm, your TNA rival Christopher Daniels, and the one that’s been in your space recently, El A.A. I’m going to say that, since I don’t know Spanish. How do you feel about going against the range of competition?"
Styles: Well, Steve, you know, you’re right. I originally made my start in TNA down in Florida, only to evolve to where I’m at now here in GZWA. I’ve been in the ring against all kinds of competition, and all types of matches. I think that the range of competition really says a lot about this company. The well documented feud between Genesis and myself when we both arrived in this company, which really showed not only the guys in the back, but the GZWA Nation, that this isn’t the AJ Styles that they know from TNA. This is a whole new AJ Styles. People may not see a difference on a regular basis, but with all of the new talent and the high level of intensity shown by the men and women here, it was really an eye opener and a challenge to have to break out and do something different, while still keeping to what I’ve thrived on in TNA.
With Shia Storm, he basically came in riding Genesis’ coat tails and branched out on his own. He’s definitely got a knack for running his mouth, but at Riot Control, he finally gets the opportunity to cash in on the threats he’s been making over the past several months.
Chris Daniels...
AJ chuckles.
I don’t think the term ‘competition’ is really applicable here. He and I have been both best friends and bitter enemies. You never know what you’re going to get with Chris. As far as what he’s been doing since his arrival in GZWA, well, he made mention of some surprise he has planned for after Riot Control, so just like the rest of us, I’m intrigued to see what it is.
El Ard -- Yeah, I’m just sticking to El AA too. Here’s a guy that I’ve never worked with before. I know being the GZWA Heavyweight Champion puts a target on my back, but from what I hear with him, he has some sort of personal issue with me. Guess I just have to keep my eyes open and be prepared for anything.
Muehlhausen: "Also the next question is..do you ever have moments where you’re like “I miss being in TNA.”, because also in TNA you were a well-respected wrestler there."
Styles: TNA was definitely something incredible for me. I can’t discredit anyone in that organization. Thing is, for me, the X Division is something that truly is groundbreaking. You don’t see things like that in most companies. Being a part of that and helping to create the interest and being one of the main guys to come out of that, you really have a respect for all that it is and was. So, yeah, I’ll have times when a fan will bring up a match I was in or one of my boys will come across pictures online or video clips. I smile and remember the good times, of course, but to be honest, there’s nothing quite like stepping it up with everything I’ve done since being with GZWA.
Muehlhausen: Now Genesis, you’re known for being the trash talker in GZWA, but GZWA has many of them: male or female, but let’s just say they aren’t as charismatic as you are. The way you are on the microphone makes you a fan favorite or more like the fan favorite. I know I’ve talked about you to a friend, and he was saying that in order to have longevity you have to not only walk the walk, but talk the talk, and you bring both onto the table with so much poise. Any tips you have for those that only talk a crumbled piece of paper worth? (laughs)
Genesis: “Best advice I can give to anyone is to never step in the ring with me. Not only will I bury you on the microphone, but I will bury you where you stand. I have no remorse or regret for what I do in the ring. The fans can cheer for me all they want, or boo me. It doesn’t make a difference. I’m out there to take care of business and to walk out of the ring with a ‘W’. That’s the mission for Genesis every week on Prime-Time and I will win at any cost. I’ve held the GZWA Television Championship for a solid year. Whether I lose the title at Riot Control or later down the road. Genesis will go down as the greatest Television Champion in GZWA history. Perhaps the greatest champion in the history of the company PERIOD! Isn’t that right, AJ? (laughs).
AJ Styles is a ‘Phenomenal’ talent just as his namesake will tell you. Is he better than Genesis? Well, I’ve got a 2-1 record over the little bastard. That alone should tell you something. The fact he walks around GZWA with the World Heavyweight Championship AND the Superstar of the Year for 2012 makes me absolutely sick! I’ll never figure that one out or understand the logic behind it. If you want my honest opinion, AJ? You’re nothing more than a spot monkey. You have no ring psychology. You can’t sell to save your life. The only reason you even have a following is due to your work in TNA. Which isn’t saying much considering you were a big fish in a small pond working for a 2nd rate promotion at the time. In GZWA, you leaned off your prior success stories to get an added boost in GZWA. You used TNA as a 'crutch' to get you where you needed me. Just like your little girlfriend over there is us[ing you to further her career. To be frank. If it wasn’t for me, you would never have gotten anywhere in the GZWA. I CARRIED your broken ass and single handily made you a relevant contender.
Thanks to a combination of luck and piss-poor management booking. You were elevated to main event status and stole what should’ve been mine! In becoming the GZWA World Heavyweight Champion last September, AJ Styles. You signed your own death warrant, son. You spit in my face and you stepped on and destroyed my honor and my pride! For that AJ? When I do win the ‘Riot Match’, your debts will be paid in full. I know for a damn fact you can beat Double S. Don’t worry about “The Superior Shit Storm”, worry about the devil you know and know every well. Isn't it ironic that you have yet to face me in the ring since becoming World Heavyweight Champion? Funny how your challengers are somehow hand picked by the GZWA brass. You’re fed easy challengers that will give you little to no trouble. Face me in the ring one more time, AJ Styles and you will walk away empty handed. That's IFyou can walk away after our match. (laughs)
Styles: Are you still one of the guys thinking Xion Zeros and I have some sort of agreement? You want a match, Genny? You got it! AJ Styles vs Genesis Part II. Why even wait until after Riot Control?
AJ stands up from his seat, but feels Mei touch his arm to try and calm him down. Knowing that he doesn’t want to start anything on air, he sits back down, placing his hand over Mei’s and smiling at her. Meanwhile Steve Muehlhausen continues speaking to Genesis.
Muehlhausen: But let’s not take Shia Storm like a grain of salt though. This man has some substantial experience in the wrestling business. The underground Wrestling business to be exact, and even you Genesis have been able to witness that for years. I mean this dude has been on the roll no matter how many federations he has been in. I doubt that he even took long vacations in between time.
Genesis: ”Double S and I go way back. He and I have a good acquaintanceship built on professional respect. Make no mistake about it, (Shia) can go in the ring. Is he Genesis? Is he AJ Styles? Fortunately for me and unfortunately for him, he’s not and never will be. His best days are long gone. That’s why I have the utmost confidence that even AJ Styles can beat him .By doing so, AJ locks in a future World Championship match-up with yours truly. You can bet your bottom dollar that come hell or high water, I will be the next #1 contender in line whether he, or this stupid company likes it or not.”
Styles: I don’t really care one way or another. Championship or no championship, I have no problem getting in the ring with you again.
Muehlhausen: Confidence is your middle name. My next question for you, Genesis, involves another note about you. There have also been some mentions of you being a ladies’ man in GZWA. You think these comments go too far, or do you agree to them?
Genesis: “When you walk around with a ‘loaded gun’ like Genesis, of course the women are going to flock to me. Do I go looking for them? Not necessarily. Make no mistake about it, Steve. I’ve had one hot piece of ass after another over the years. Will I ever settle down with just one woman someday? Who knows. Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. While being around beautiful women is a great perk, it’s not what Genesis is all about. I put my career first before the needs of a woman.”
Muehlhausen: Oh I can understand that, Genesis. Now Mei Long, of course we couldn’t leave you out. How does it feel to be the female champion over many veterans in the professional wrestling business?
Long: Even after winning the title months, I’ll say that it feels great to be the Women’s Champion, the very first title I’ve been able to achieve, and it’s for a very notable Wrestling company. I’m already making a name for myself in the business.
Muehlhausen: I also have another question, because not only are you the best female competitor, you are also the controversial one. The Playboy shoot, the love triangle at Lucha Libre USA, and also your relationship with A.J. is controversial.
Long: I understand that being a babyface when you debut means you have to have a clean image. Sure that can be difficult to achieve with the skeletons in my closet, but what wrestler does have a clean image? Even John Cena can have an edge from time to time. The best thing anyone can do is bring it to the ring. You might not be a role model, but you can still be one of the most well-respected professional wrestlers.”
Muehlhausen:Now our next segment is going to be where we talk about the upcoming matches at Riot Control. You all are going to speculate on who wins these matches and the reasons behind your choices. Now A.J. and Genesis, play fair (chuckles), and Mei…be honest. Now are you all ready?
Long: Of course, Steve.
Muehlhausen:First match is The Steel Cage Match against Amanda Cortez, and Sapphire. We’ll start with you, Genesis. Who do you think is going to win and why?
Genesis: “If you want my honest opinion. I hope the two gutter-sluts destroy each other and do us all a favor and leave this business. Amanda is a washed up has-been from ZXWWF. Sapphire’s only talent is what she does on her knees to needle dick interviewers. Nuff said.”
Muehlhausen:Ouch, and speaking of Amanda Cortez, Second match is the Triple Threat Match for the Women’s Championship with Mei Long, Beth Phoenix, and newly signed Rose Cortez aka Amanda’s wife. We’ll actually have you start Mei, and like I said be honest. (laughs)
Long: "To be honest I really don’t know. I have yet to face Beth since then, and in wrestling, mistakes can be worked on. I also have to take her experience seriously. She’s been wrestling for years. I’ve been training in the gym mostly for competing against Beth in Riot Control. Her strength is her primary trait, even against the other competition in Ground Zero, and people like to ask “between strength and speed, who becomes victorious”. Beth Phoenix is not called the Glamazon for nothing.
Now Rose is a different situation. I’ve only seen her in two matches, and that’s been in Ground Zero: The #1 Contender’s Match back in March, and this last match at the Slammy Awards when she was my partner. I could analyze her a bit in our last match, but we know how that turned out. Rose let her personal bias get the hang of her, and let herself get pinned by Amanda Cortez. Not sure if Beth saw it, but I know I did. Rose is good at the beginning and the middle, but the end is still speculative to me, because her sleeves seem to have tricks hidden underneath them. I guess I have to watch some footage of her days at Blazing Sin for me to get a better grasp at how she is in action. Long-Term of course.
Muehlhausen:"Third match is a singles match against Lise Starr and Tia Brooks. April Lee being Lise’s manager, or pep squad in the background. Just recently we’ve heard a lot of drama going on with the girls of Straight-Edge Society against Queen Bee Mafia, and this match might bring the drama further. Who do you think is going to win, A.J.?"
Styles: Just like between Sapphire and Amanda Cortez, both of these women truly have a hatred for one another. I think that given Lise has the Straight-Edge Society and Tia has Queen Bee Mafia in their respective corners, we won’t see a clear cut winner in this one. Both groups will interfere and whether or not, it’s behind the ref’s back or it erupts into an all out brawl, whoever wins will not have a clean victory.
Muehlhausen:Fourth match is also a Triple Threat match, but for the TV Championship with….yours truly defending the title, with Mike Bradley and Christopher Daniels being contenders. I’m sure we already know your answer Genesis. (laughs)
Genesis: “Mike Bradley”
Steve is floored by Genesis’ response.
Genesis: “Don’t get me wrong. If this had been any other time, you can bet your bottom dollar that ‘I’ would walk out as the TV Champion. But, ya know... I’ve been the champion for over a year like I said earlier. I’ve beaten everyone and everybody under the sun. I made the division with my blood, sweat and tears. Despite being overlooked and underrated by the GZWA powers that be. I feel like I’ve done everything possible for this title and the division. So ya know what? If I have to job out to Daniels or Bradley? I’ll gladly do it and let the best man of those two take the ball and run with it.”
Muehlhausen: "The Fifth match is the Singles title for the Heavyweight Championship with the champ against Double S. I watch the show religiously, and have seen a great improvement on Double S’s wrestling abilities. Double S made a quick transition from beating on scraps to becoming a contender for the Heavyweight Champion. Who do you think will win this match, A.J.? (laughs)
Styles: "I have to agree with you on the improvement of Double S’ in ring ability. His submission hold is one that I’ve fallen victim to several times and need to keep an eye out to make sure that I can evade it before he locks it in."
"As much as Shia does have a fair chance at winning, I’ve busted my ass too long as champion to lose it on one bad night. It’ll be a hell of a match, that much I guarantee. Shia and I will take each other to our limits, but when the match is over, The Phenomenal One will still be GZWA Heavyweight Champion."
Muehlhausen: "Last but not least is our Riot Match where anyone can win. The divas and superstars in one ring. We will give this one to you, Mei."
Long: “I’m just glad that the men and women get to fight in the ring. That seems to be unheard of in Wrestling today. Even in WWE, where the moment a superstar, or diva, hits the opposite, you can get disqualified. Even in Promos, I hardly get to see much fighting amongst the two divisions. Amanda having a match against Carnage was a huge deal in Wrestling, or so I’ve heard, and it put Amanda into a whole other league. With this match, the other divas will follow suit.
Now as far as who is going to win, you’ll never know. Just hope that there isn’t plenty of hair left in the ring once it’s over.”
Muehlhausen:Well said, Mei. Well, that’s all we have here today with the GZWA champs. It’s good having you all here with us.
Styles: ”No problem."
Long: “Really appreciate it.”
Muehlhausen: "Now everybody out there in New York, or the United States. Maybe even the world. Be sure to reserve your seats at Madison Square Gardens stadium by going to the main website. GZWA.com, or just relax in your living get the show on your TVs, and be sure to watch the show this Friday at 10 pm EST. Well, this is Steve Muehlhausen on BetweentheRopes.com Radio. I’ll be back after these messages."

Credits go to Bree and Brandon for their characters. I really appreciate them being a part of the promo. Might have to do more of this later on.
