The WEW Online staff were able to catch up with up and coming Animosity Starlet Amber Torres following her win Over Courtney Rimes in a ten question and answer order format with questions provided by the fans.
WEW Online: The first question for you Amber, at what age did you deiced to become a wrestler?
Amber★Torres: Well (Laughing) It was kinda thrown on me. I was 16 when it became a option. At the time I started out I had been with my now husband Leon Torres for over 2 years. He got me into it and would take me to the shows with him. The more we would go I started to get hooked to it. When Leon made the decision to drop out of school and get his GED in order to train I stayed by his side and did the same thing. We had this crazy idea that we could do it. Two 16 year olds, living off his parents, working during the day and training at night.
WEW Online: SO where did ypu guys get your start?
Amber★Torres: It's kind of embarrassing but we trained at a local non-factor school that was run by some of Leon's buddies. We started training in August of 2006 and had our first match for a backyard wrestling type place December 2006. With a bunch of friends we would wrestle and record matches and put them up on youtube.
WEW Online: SO there's Indy footage of you out there?
Amber★Torres: (Amber starts laughing again.) Yeah there's a few vids of meout there. Mostly just at Leon's side taking bumps and even me wining a title. and losing a loser leaves match. Good times.
WEW Online: SO where did you go next?
Amber★Torres: At the time my eldest sister Mariah[Marisol Cruz] was dating this guy name ZX who owned his own successful company called ZXWWF out of South Carolina. She invited me to come in for a tryout and I was signed the next day. I was supposed to compete in their annual Diva Search that year but it got out that I was Mariah's younger sister and I got DQ'd before even getting on TV for it.Fail.(Laughs)
WEW Online: How was your time in ZXWWF?
Amber★Torres: My time in ZXWWF was bittersweet. Around the time I had started me and Leon broke up and wernt talking at all so I put all I had into learning the ropes and getting better in the ring while weekly appearing with both of my sisters wrestling. I remember I would take sick bumps left and right. One time at their ZXWWFMania I got power bombed off a stage. Pretty scary night.
WEW Online: Did you capture any gold while there?
Amber★Torres: Sadly no, at the end of ZXWWF before it's doors shut down I had been off TV due to my pregnancy with Leon. I got a call one day from the office saying that I was going to be put in the HOF and that they needed to have me out there the next day. I kid you not I was there the next day, big as all get out. When It came time to accept my induction, my sisters and Leon spoke and gave me the plaque. It was a awesome moment in my career like all the hard work wasn't for gold but I would still be acknowledged.
WEW Online: SO you're going on your 7th year in the business, how has it been so far?
Amber★Torres: Well I don't like to call it a 7th year, I just recently started wrestling again after a 3 year pause to raise my and Leon's Son Jordano-Dashon [Dash]. I feel like it's been pretty great. I've accomplished so much and Im only 22.
WEW Online: So what brought you back to the business?
Amber★Torres: Honestly I was missing the ring. Dash was getting older, Leon was still out there wrestling every weekend and I was just sitting around not doing much. I started to miss the ring and so I got in contact with some of my old friends from ZXWWF who had all moved on to GZWA. I called and called and called and lord behold they finally called back. Me and Leon made our debuts back in February right around Leon's 23rd birthday.
WEW Online: What brought you to WEW?
Amber★Torres: Aj. Although we hadn't talked in years, she just came at the right time. I was looking to just get my name out there again but bigger. I love it here, I've met some great people and I just love the dynamic of Alakai and Zharya and what they have done here and I find Zye as someone to look up to.
WEW Online: Last question, although still in your rookie year here where do you see yourself going?
Amber★Torres: To the top of course! Started from the bottom.. (Laughs) In all seriousness, I do see myself holding the Starlets title somewhere down the line, it's just the getting there part that sucks. I hope to feud more with other starlets along the way and get my personality out there as much as I can. I feel like me and Courtney although our heat was real, we have a mutual respect for each other. I mean look, I got her ass on the biggest show of the year. (Laughs)
WEW Online: Well Miss Torres thank you for your time. Any last words for anybody out there?
