A voice-over is heard as the camera zooms in on this waking Latina beauty…
“Everyday I wake up and thank God for everything that life has handed me - friends, family, millions of fans around the world, and of course there’s my fortune and fame, but more importantly, the hardships and tribulations that got me here and made me the person that I am today.
Without conflict, we wouldn’t have these altercations that test us as human beings. Human beings, especially women, are expected to be social creatures. These conflicts mold us into who we are and we thrive from this contact. This connection with other human beings gives us our friends and allies, but our adversaries and rivals as well.
The irony of the matter is that in the wrestling ring, the social interaction is no different. We, much like our male counterparts, communicate through our fists and create bonds on a very physical level. Whether we love or hate our opponent, one thing is certain - we are ALL wrestlers.”
Mariah changes clothes and adjusts the webcam to look at her as she continues.
“Why the parental advisory warning, you ask? Simple. I’m sure there are going to be people with their feelings hurt after I say what I have to say, but it’s something that’s been bottling up for a LONG time and I want to get off my chest here and now. Big changes are coming to the GZWA Divas division, or rather the Vixens division, but I want to talk about the here and now.
We are ALL wrestlers. A simple statement, but there are non-believers of these words, especially among the GZWA roster.
I thought I nipped this issue in the bud after my Twitter exchange with Danielle Bradley back in July, but no, I guess I have to make my statements PUBLIC for them to matter.
Call this what you may, but as one of GZWA’s original Divas, I see it as my specific responsibility that conduct this State of the Division Address as a wake up call to EVERY woman signed as an active in-ring competitor.
We all should rise and come together and be one as women in this sport, but no, there are several individuals who want to segregate themselves from the rest of the pack, claiming that they are superior, different, or better than the rest for a variety of reasons. At the end of the day, that ideal is nothing more but a fantasy. Allow me to snap each and every single one of you back into reality from your blatant inferiority complexes as you TRY to make yourselves to be so much better when you're obviously not worth spitting on.
It doesn’t matter that you’ve come from a famous wrestling family that is renowned around the world, Paige. It doesn’t matter if you were the longest reigning champion in another company, April. It doesn’t matter that you excel at fighting men, Danielle. It doesn’t matter that you were the first ever Legends champion back in your old stomping grounds, Tia. It doesn’t matter what ANY of you other girls have done in the past or for other promotions and federations. And Raven, I can’t tell if you THINK you’re THE shit or just plain ol’ shit, but at the end of the day, this statement holds true. Ladies, don’t get offended. There’s MULTIPLE examples I could cite from the division. I’m just keeping it short. This isn’t WWE, TNA, World Elite Wrestling, Ring of Beauty, Blazing Sin Wrestling, ZXWWF, nor Extreme Women’s Wrestling. This is G-Z-W-A, ground zero for fresh starts and new beginnings.
Over the last few months, the only thing I have heard from a bulk of the women on the roster has been whining and complaining about being overlooked, disrespected, and ridiculed. If you want to be noticed, then do something that MATTERS. If you want respect, then go out into that ring and EARN it. If you don’t want to be ridiculed, then take PRIDE in yourself. My sister Amanda and I have NEVER seen eye to eye, but she goes out there week in, week out, win/lose/draw and performs in that ring like she owns the place. Amanda’s hard work has paid off and she continues to represent the women of GZWA with pride as the first woman ever to hold the GZWA Television Championship. Her, along with the rest of the MisFits as a whole have my utmost respect.
How many of you can say you do the same? One measly loss and you’re ready to complain to Xion about why were you “screwed” when you have only screwed yourself by putting up half-assed and lazy performances for barely putting only the minimal effort to get by (OOC: I’m talking DIRECTLY at those of you who put up short/half-assed promos at the last second before the deadlines but complain when you lose). Others want to quit when things don’t go their way or don’t have the fairy tale ending that they would like. Wake up call, ladies. I have been part of GZWA’s women’s division since Day One and haven’t had the honor of representing this company as it’s champion. Does that bother me? Sometimes, but it only makes me work even harder towards that goal because I know it’s going to become reality someday.
Oh wait, someone wants to bring up my PAST and say that I’m only popular because I’m friends with Xion or that I have some racy photos online. Does it look like I care? No. Bring up my past all you want. I’m not going to hide from it. I have a deadbeat dad, two homosexual siblings that much of society looks down upon, my youngest sister had a baby out of wedlock, one of my best friends prides herself from being a former stripper while the other has more frequent flyer miles riding CM Punk than most any of his exes combined, and there’s even more dirt than that you could possibly dig up, but you think that’s going to hurt me? Hell no, because I know I’m NOT perfect and I don’t expect anyone else to fit that mold either...
Hold on, I’m FAR from done with what I have to say here.”
Mariah twists off the cap of her bottled water and takes a sip before continuing.
“Normally, I bite my tongue and maintain a hard skin to most of the crap that comes out of the other girls’ mouths around here. You want to know the straw that broke the camel’s back? The lack of respect and honor among the locker room between the rookies AND the veterans.”
“Like really? REALLY?
For example, I’m not going to say any names, but there’s a few girls in the back who are DYING to fight me in that ring. Some of them hate me, others envy me, but they all want that opportunity because they know I will BRING IT in there. I don’t want to toot my own horn here, but I wouldn’t be giving credit where it’s due when I say that there’s PLENTY of girls in that locker room that have what it takes, just as well as I do or more so - Karen Beth Zurich, Lise Starr, Cheeka, Katie Matthews, Porscha, Beth Phoenix, Mei Long, and the list goes on.
Truth be told, I felt that I was a more benefit to the division in the front offices and as a trainer. I could help out the girls who were rough around the edges and help GZWA scout talent that could compliment and challenge the skills of the women we already have. Serena Dent gave me what was a blessing in disguise for the future of this division - bringing me back as an in-ring competitor. If you weren’t ready to hang with the best wrestlers in the world, then you WILL be after facing me. I don’t need to step over people or stab them in the back to reach the top. I know what it takes to be a champion and it’s damn sure not all of this ‘boo-hoo nobody likes me!’ or ‘I won’t ever get a title match!’ crap. If you want something in this business, then reach out and take it.
Hold on, I’m not done here yet…
How about we pull the curtain back about what all of these individual campaigns going on in this division are REALLY about?
First of all, we have the ladies who think they are too good to fight with the rest of the girls. Wow, you must be pretty full of yourselves to think that you are too good to fight any other woman in this division, yet call yourself a part of the division. Trust and believe, toots, but you ain’t NOTHING special. Merry Sunshine doesn’t come out of your ass, there’s shit coming out of there just like everyone else.
For these ladies, I have only one question. Can you seriously look yourself in the mirror and be able to tell yourself that you are really THAT good when you haven’t EVER competed with the best this division has to offer?
Secondly, we have the ladies who think they are being overlooked or ignored in favor of everyone else…”
Mariah sarcastically applauds.
“Bravo, you did maybe one or two significant things, such as finally ending that nagging losing streak or popping that annoying pimple of a former ally turned rival. Do you want a cookie? Do you need me to give you your Good Noodle Star on the chalkboard of your kindergarden class? I don’t want to kill your enthusiasm but go out there and CONTINUE to matter and turn heads. Don’t get comfortable. ALWAYS aspire for bigger and better things.
Perfect example, look at the Ladies of Doom. They have gone out there and killed it in EVERY match they have since arriving in GZWA. They’ve won some and lost some, but they STILL have that fire to do great. You don’t see them pointing fingers and complaining about their shortcomings. Say what you want but those ladies stay FIERCE.
Last but not least, we have the Queen Bees. People have referred to us as living contradictions and a part of the Barbie doll quota plaguing GZWA.”
Mariah chuckles lightly before taking another sip from her water bottle.
“Haters are gonna hate. That’s not going to change, but it goes back full circle to my opening statement:
We are ALL wrestlers. Sure, some are cut from different molds than others, but we ALL fit the bill. If you can’t respect that much about your fellow women in GZWA, then I’m MORE than happy to show you the way out.
The Queen Bee Mafia consists of what this division is truly about - harmony and the ability to coexist among your peers as equals, even as the most unlikely of friends.
We are strong, we are beautiful, and we, just like EVERY woman signed to an active in-ring competitor contract in GZWA, are WRESTLERS. You can ridicule us for sharing our personal lives on social media and reality TV, but we’re going toss that hot shit back in your face and point out whose ‘inadequate equipment’ you’re still bouncing on to stay relevant and ask who exactly do you THINK you are.
The Queen Bee Mafia is NOT a contradiction, we’re fulfilling our mission. We kept our word - we continue to change GZWA every single day, whether you like it or not. Truth be told, we’re going to continue that trend on Primetime.
By decree of Xion Zeros as part of our ‘punishment’, Tia Brooks and I will face each other as opponents. If any other friends in this company faced each other, it would be nothing but hatred between them. Xion Zeros thinks that he’s going to turn the Bees against each other, but he has granted us with a blessing. I guarantee you that the Queen Bees will steal the show on Primetime. I dare ANYONE on the roster to follow the match that we have in store.
Tia, you may have beaten me in the past, but I’m a different woman now with a few new tricks that I have been saving for a special occasion such as this. I want your BEST - nothing less, ‘cause I’m giving you my best and then some.”
Mariah sighs as she concludes her speech.
“I know there’s going to be individuals who are going to be upset with what I had to say, but this division is my heart and soul. I can’t stand idly by while a lethal poison seeks to rot and decay this place that I have called my home and my family for so long.
I’m not asking that we all like each other in this division. I’m merely asking that we work together and treat each other as equals - a code of honor, so to speak.
You’re going to see this code of honor on Primetime firsthand, when Tia and I face each other.
At the end of the day, I want you ALL to think about something. How can GZWA Management rely on you to represent the company as the face of the division when you can't respect yourselves, and more importantly, the division as a WHOLE?”
“Everyday I wake up and thank God for everything that life has handed me - friends, family, millions of fans around the world, and of course there’s my fortune and fame, but more importantly, the hardships and tribulations that got me here and made me the person that I am today.
