OOC: Much like my Mega Busters promo, I dunno what's going on with the color coding on this IE browser, but I rather get my promo in before the deadline than rack my brain about it.
Scene One - Prologue:
Mariah is shown bringing her mother a cup of iced tea.
"Mom, I can't believe that they already sent you home. You should've stayed at the hospital."
"Marisol, what did I tell you? No one is the boss of me. I'm not going to allow some silly bump on my head keep me down, stuck in some silly bed while nurses take turns poking me with needles like I'm some sort of a pin cushion. I rather be home because I have to make sure my house is in order."
Mariah looked confused, "Your house is always spotless, Mom. What are you talking about?"
Mrs. Cruz shook her head, "That's not what I'm talking about. How are my children doing? I heard all of you have some really important wrestling things coming up."
Mariah's eyes trailed to the floor before answering, "Well, Amanda's still wrestling for Full Force Pro and SCW when she's not at home juggling being a wife to Rose and mother to her 15 year old son and adopted daughter. I'm going to pay her a visit after all of this drama is over with. I owe her that much to show her that I still care about her."
Mrs. Cruz sighed, "Amanda's always been a wild one, taking the most after your pigheaded father - getting into all kinds of mischief. The more you tell her NOT to do something she's going to be more inclined to do it anyway. That's what keeps her happy."
Mariah nodded before she continued, "Amber and Jaser had two big opportunities on the last show, but they both failed to make it count when it matters most... Amber's still hasn't spoken to me since she started siding with Raven. Then Jaser... we've never been really close to begin with anyway, so he naturally bonds with Amber more than with me."
Mrs. Cruz sipped her tea, "Jaser bonded with Amber because they're both free spirits. Plus they feel like they have something to prove that they deserve to live up to our family's reputation in that sport. They don't have anything to prove to me as I know they are special. I'm just sad that they feel like they have convince the rest of the world."
Raven... that's the puta who hit me right? Tell me, what ARE you going to do about her."
"Pardon my french, Mom, but simply put - I'm going to kick her ass."
"Marisol, don't put on the brave face for me. I know what you're thinking because you get this way every single time you get in this position."
Mariah darted her eyes away from her mother, "I-I-I don't know what you're talking about..."
"You think that just because Amber and Jaser didn't make the cut, that you're going to crash and burn too. You're thinking that somewhere deep down, that you don't deserve to have this honor, but you're wrong, Marisol. Lemme tell you something about what I think about you."
Mariah looked surprised, "What's that?"
"You're definitely not like Amanda because you lack her fearless attitude. You're not like Jaser because you can't match his ability to rebound. You're nothing like Amber because you haven't experienced what it means to be mother and what that drives you to do to provide for your child.
Who are you Marisol Francesca Cruz? You're my daughter - you have more experience than all three of your siblings. You're a survivor; you set the standard that they want to reach for. You're afraid because you're cautious. You don't simply rebound because you don't merely return, you evolve after every shortcoming and deterence. You may not be a mother but you're a role model for so many of your peers."
Mariah leaned over the couch and hugged her mother tightly after wiping the tears from her eyes.
"I'll be honest, Mom. I'm afraid of winning too..."
Mrs. Cruz shook her head, "Don't be. With or without a title to show for it, all of my children are champions and I don't need a fancy piece of gold and leather to show for it.
I'm going to tell you something else that you don't want to hear either. Marisol, there's nothing wrong with wanting something for yourself for once. I can tell how much this match means to you. The world isn't going to end tomorrow if take one moment for your own goals instead of sacrificing them for everyone else's happiness. You deserve to be happy too."
Mariah looked jarred by her mother's words. Those words dug deep into her soul and into the recesses of her mind.
Mariah wiped her eyes again as she headed towards the door, "I-I-I'll call you later, Mom. I have a lot to think about."
Hours before Devils May Cry
Mariah is shown stretching backstage in an empty arena before the majority of the fans or staff have arrived to the arena. She was free to her thoughts racing through her mind as tonight's Vixen Championship was at the forefront of her thoughts. Fighting Raven wasn't going to be a new experience, but after the last Primetime it was apparent this rivalry has reached its boiling point.
As she stretched, her mother's words continued to echo throughout her mind, "The world isn't going to end tomorrow if take one moment for your own goals instead of sacrificing them for everyone else's happiness."
Looking towards a lone camera, Mariah powered the sole unit on before taking a seat on a nearby bench and sipping from her water bottle.
"Last time the GZWA Nation saw me, Raven left me in the remains of destroyed wooden table after our contract signing. Since that fateful evening, I've had a lot to think about what has transpired. If this was the typical run of the mill match, I would be stressing myself about if I'm good enough to be hanging in the same league of any of the up-and-coming Vixens. Yes, Vixens, since there's some women in this company who thinks that term is an insult but know that we should be all proud to wear that label as best female wrestlers in this sport. Tonight's not about me worrying about "if" I'm good enough - I KNOW I'm good enough.
After the sheer amount of disgrace that Raven has brought to the Vixen Championship and to the division itself, it's about time that something changed for the better. I'm that good thing that needs to happen to this division. I'm not looking to start another revolution, but instead I want to end an era. I want to cut this viper at the head and end this chain of egomaniacs allowing this belt to taint who they are as competitors in this sport and completely discard honor and sportsmanship in the Vixen Division... OUR division. I elect myself as the advocate who will formally remove Raven from her pedestal by force and give the Division back its honor that was lost so long ago. Every woman who has paved the way for this division, from Karen Beth Zurich to my fellow Queen Bee Tia Brooks to even Mei Long, has allowed greed and malice warp the Vixen division into the state that it is in today. That same malice allowed Raven to swoop in with ease and make this division her own with her own brand of tyranny.
Someone has to stand up. Stop one has to fight on behalf of the Vixens and women in this sport around the world. Someone has to make Raven afraid and clench her security blanket out of fear. I'll rob her of her prized possession and give it back to the division that I love with my heart and soul.
My friends, this match is for you as you are my sword, shield, and my armor. Without each and every one of you, I am nothing.
Katrina, I thank you for your perseverance.
Angelica, thank you for clearing my head before this crucial moment with a relaxing weekend away from all of this drama.
Jessica, your kindness is a constant reminder that I don't have to walk down that dark path ever again.
Emily, thanks to you, I won't break.
Morgan and Tia, you two are my life blood.
My students, you are my legacy and my pride and joy - making you all proud will allow me to endure anything
My friends, my family, and all of my fans... you are my strength.
It may be an one-on-one match, but my followers are with me, supporting me through every hardship and shortcoming. This will be no different. Raven, you may have your bag of tricks but can't plan for what I'm bringing to a match of this caliber.
Raven, I won't crack. I won't falter. You're going to have to kill me to stop me tonight. This queen won't be slayed. On the contrary, this Queen Bee will slay for sure.
I don't know about the rest of you ladies, but this senorita's ready to deliver one hell of a showstopper tonight.
I don't know who's going to end up as the Queen of Queens or Queen of the Cage, but be sure to take notes..."
