The newly debuted GZWA Vixen and former MMA fighter Blake Harper is shown sitting on a beanbag chair, her legs crossed comfortably as she looks in front of the camera. In the background "Light It Up" by Rev Theory could be heard and the first clip of Blake's MMA bouts is shown. Jaw breaking high kicks, a brutal rear naked choke on a fellow competitor and Blake grabbing the camera, screaming in raw triumph as she shook the apparatus.
I had an idea of what I was getting myself into after joining GZWA... But the moment I stood behind the screen and ready to go on that stage it felt like volts of electricity went through my body. The feeling was entirely different than what I used to feel while entering the Octagon. This was not my cage... This was their wrestling ring. And I was about to stand face to face with the most decorated performer in this division of wrestlers.
A clip from Primetime is shown as Blake heads down to the ring. Standing right in front of Mariah, the two ladies look each other with the utmost respect. The Double Leg Takedown is shown from the beginning of the match, right when Blake took her opponent to the ground. Next we see one of her vicious clotheslines and a heel hook.
I knew if I wanted to stand a chance, I just have to bring my best ground game. I just knew that my background in mixed martial arts is gonna be my advantage. If I had a chance to beat Mariah it was only by forcing her to submit. I couldn't let myself be naive enough to think that I would score a win by flying of that top rope. That is her home field.
The next clip shows Mariah throwing the resilient redhead out of the ring and the gravity defying Missile Dropkick. But soon after follows the slow-motioned Spinebuster by Blake and the Kneeling Inverted Sharpshooter. As the rookie Vixen was applying one of her favorite submission maneuvers the camera zooms on her upper body, showing the drum-popping scream coming out of her and the intensity in her face.
And after that I pulled Mariah back into the ring to avoid a count out. Of course, I could have just left her there and pick up an easy victory. But.... But I wanted to win against the Vixen's champion not only fairly. I wanted to win against her, while she was at her best game and not because I caught her outside of the ring by surprise. A clean pin or submission was my goal. Not a sneaky "steal" victory. Mariah's experience proved to be more than I could fight against. She beat me fair and square and I am honored that I can now say that I debuted in GZWA in a match against the Vixen's Champion, "The Showstoppin' Senorita" Mariah. Even if it was in a losing effort.
Joanna "The Jungle Girl" Tarzanna appears on screen in her latest match on Primetime as she shoves Delta Madison across the ring. The clip continues with the ring shattering Samoan Drop on the "Lady So Divine" and the Superwoman Punch later in the match to Amber Torres. During this clip Blake voice can be heard.
Joanna has this huge height advantage. Her strength and powerhouse physique is not something you see everyday in a female wrestler. Looking at her performance you start to threat that she might break you in half. She is someone I have never faced before in my life. To go against Joanna I have to come up with an entirely different game plan, because with someone that size my submission arsenal just won't be enough. My striking game has to be on point, in hopes that I get her on the ground, where I can shine. On the other hand, that same "9th Wonder of the World" appearance can be a downfall. A height and weight advantage can slow you down and someone like me can strive for out running and out jumping. My fast style can help me catch Joanna off guard.
Next clip shows "All Red Everything" Eva Marie training with Brian Kendrick in the gym, executing some punches and a classic DDT. Some more memorable moments from her return to NXT, like her using the abdominal stretch and that famous finisher, "Sliced Red #2" are also seen. After the clip Blake is shown talking in front of the camera.
This one is an interesting character. Right of the bat I can say that Eva Marie probably is the biggest underdog in this match. She is debuting in this Fatal 4 Way against two girls who already had a match and against someone who is working in multiple federations and has already got her feet warm in the business. Eva is still quite green in the sports business, because she neither has a proper athletic background nor a lot of in ring experience. But, I can't ignore the fact that she has a stellar trainer and seems dedicated to improve each match. Might be that during her debut she will show us a much more rich and perfected moveset than we saw before. Sometimes the people that get the most crap manage to shine their brightest.
Finally we saw Gina Lewis going against Endee Leights during the latest edition of Primetime, where she catches the E.N.D. with a Front Falling Fireman’s Carry Slam. The next scene shows her executing a perfect Spear and a Running Knee Lift, only to get taken out by the veteran opponent. While this recap clip is showed, Blake can be heard doing a voiceover.
I think that Gina hasn't yet shown her everything. She is quick on her feet and has some high-flyer moves in her arsenal, yet still possesses enough physical strength to slam someone to the mat. My fellow rookie is probably the hardest to predict. Since she is still new to the business and there isn't any recorded matches of her performing in the ring, I simply can't be sure which style will she use against someone with a strong submission game. She might try to overpower me, but she might also try to out run me. And there is also the factor that Gina might hold a devastating Ankle Lock or even an Eye Rake in her bag of tricks. She probably worries me the most, because facing her in the match, I can't have anything prepared. I will have to react in the moment and improvise, seeing her offense and defense against the other two ladies.
The last clip is once again of Blake fighting Mariah, the two exchanging punches and kicks, that Cobra Clutch Bulldog and a Flying Spinning Heel Kick, right before the champion ducks out of it.
Even though I am proud, I know that I lost. And my goals for this match hadn't changed from what I said in interviews before I debuted. I want to show my skills, I want to entertain the people that come to see us wrestle, I want to improve and push myself to the very limit... But I want to win as well. I am not going to cheat, try to get people disqualified or counted out. My career will be built on clean wins, fair fights and hard work.
Oh God, I sound like a motivational poster.
Blake laughs as she tries to pull herself together and keep a straight face while looking at the camera.
I won't make threats or throw flashy catchphrases. This vixen is coming to wrestle, to highlight the "Sport" in "Sports Entertainment" and to bring every ounce of technique, passion and previous experience that I possess. I hope to see the same from my opponents when we all stand looking at each other before that opening bell.
One last time the redhead fighter smiles at the camera, yet with visible intensity in her eyes as the scene ends showing Blake's arm being raised in the air by Mariah and then fading to black.
