Who exactly is the maiden behind the name - Delta Madison, or Queen Delta for some within GZWA? With Riot Control on the horizon and Delta feeling she has said all the things she needed about her opponents Mariah, Beth and Raven in the Vixen title bout. Delta was given the opportunity to sit back and review her life and career. She invited the people who know her the most to share their stories of the Divine Vixen. This idea of having other people comment on her career and her life was a risk she was willinging to take. GZWA got their cameras to get the scoop about the resident Queen of Queens to film the woman herself and the people who are special in her life.
Delta Madison “I was born on December 23rd, 1982 in Sayreville, New Jersey with the civilian name of Natalie Delta Madison Montego. I’m the second born of the Montego family with two sisters, two step-brothers and three half-sisters.”
Stefanie Montego Older sister “It’s sort of funny looking back. I’m the one who set the standard with my sisters since I’m the oldest. But sadly, Delta never suffered that middle-child syndrome. We joked that Delta and I’s role kind of switched, she was the Marcia Brady and I was sort of the Jane Brady of the family. EVERYONE adored Delta and I was all bitter “Delta!Delta!Delta!” *laughs* She got away with so much things, it was so easy to hate her.
Endee Leights: Younger Sister/Professional Wrestler/ GZWA Alumni “Delta was our father's favourite. It’s not even debatable, c’mon, man”
Jonathan Montego Father I don’t pick favouritism of my children, I don’t know where they got the idea that Delta is my favourite. I love my children equally.
Delta Madison “I’m just really thankful for my sisters in my life, despite our mother leaving the family, which is something i’d rather not dwell over. My family grew considerably when my father married Stacey, my step-mom, which established a large support system. I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have my family.”
Jonathan Montego Father “Having my daughters on my side helped me get through that difficult period. What I liked about my children is that they each have such strong personalities but they show so much love for one another.”
Stefanie Montego Older sister “Growing up I had to become the motherly figure, protecting my sisters at all costs. Delta and I would always butt heads with everything since she’s such a perfectionist in everything she did. I guess that’s where her strong work ethic comes from. She has those traits of a typical capricorn.”
Delta Madison I always watched wrestling when I was a kid, it was sort of a family event. We would sit around the TV on Monday Night and just have a ball. It brought the family closer but also made us bitter rivals when we disagreed on what happened on the wrestling. I did have those dreams of climbing into the ring and becoming a megastar but at the time I felt women weren’t a fixture in wrestling and it would be hard to be taken seriously. During my school years I fell in love with dancing and gymnastics which made me quite active and athletic. I graduated high school and branched out to professional dancing, working behind big names for little over a year. Dancing was great and all, but I came to a realization when I received a phone call from Endee.
Endee Leights: Younger Sister/Professional Wrestler/ GZWA Alumni I was roughly 14 years old when I wanted to become a wrestler but I was deemed too young and small. The guys running the school thought I was like 8 years old due to my body type. Anyway, so I called up Delta to vent out my frustrations and somehow it turned into me suggesting… more like demanding Delta to become a wrestler. I had this crazy idea that I wanted to live through her dream like those dance moms. It sounds crazy, but I was so impatient about becoming a wrestler I thought having that connection would get me through sooner rather than later.
Jonathan Montego Father The idea of my daughters getting involved in wrestling did concern me. Thinking about how my daughters would risk their bodies and likely get a serious injury would leave a father in peril. But it really came down to how passionate they were, and I couldn’t put a damper to something they wanted to pursue. I wanted them to make their own decisions.
Delta Madison “I had the background from dancing and gymnastics also I had some martial arts experience under my belt, I thought what the hell - why not? Also In the early noughties the women were emerging as a serious fixture in the sport which ignited the fire. I went down and trained around Atlanta, then Michigan and flew all the way to Japan for a couple of months. I was so obsessed getting that experience learning whatever I could get. That was until I found XWF, a small company that was established in 2002.”
Stephanie Styles Friend/Former Tag Team Partner/Retired Wrestler “I first met Delta in Michigan. We trained together and we became inseparable. I was one of the founding wrestlers at XWF and I pitched the idea of Delta coming into the company.”
Delta Madison To get my first break so soon in my career was a blessing but also a curse at the same time. I did so many crazy shit in-ring and out-of-ring. I developed a serious back injury that almost ended my career.
Endee Leights: Younger Sister/Professional Wrestler/ GZWA Alumni Delta is the most stubborn person I know. When she doesn’t get her way she avoids everything until it bites her in the ass. She didn’t want to show that weakness of an injury so fresh into her young career.
Delta Madison “Oh man, I struggled so much dealing with that injury. Hence why I retired so many times, I was frustrated over that fact. But the one thing that helped me immensely was yoga. I discovered it after I had my only son in 2010. I practised it everyday since then and built up my strength and changed my outlook in life.
Delta Madison Now that I’ve mentioned my son which some are unaware of because I like to keep him out of the public eye…. *slight pause* My son is named Leighton and he’s almost 6 years old, he’s growing up so fast. Because of my busy schedule he lives with my family up in New Jersey, so I alternate between Jersey and California every week. There’s actually ‘in-joke’ that the father of my son is unknown and I’d rather not publicly that matter. *winks* Actually I’m not too keen on going on topic of my personal life. If you know me, you would know I’ve dealt with some volatile relationships. I want to proclaim I am a survivor, rather than a victim.”
Stefanie Montego Older sister I admire Delta’s courage of getting out of that situation. Domestic abuse is a serious issue and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Being close to someone in that position eats you up alive because you’re in a tough spot not knowing what's the best way to help without the tables turning on you.
Elijah Williams Fiancé I’ve only known Delta for a short while, but it feels I’ve known her for a lifetime. She’s a courageous woman who is brutally honest with what she wants - not many men can handle that attitude.
Delta Madison “Masculinity is rather fragile so I’ve heard.” *giggles* But in all seriousness, a relationship to me is being with someone who is on the same wave-length. Having an understanding of each other’s faults and just accepting who they are. No one is perfect in but it takes a lot of teamwork to make a fulfilling relationship. I feel I finally found that with Elijah.
Elijah Williams Fiancé I’m no prince charming or the right man if you’re wondering. but it was sort of meeting someone and instantly sharing that common ground. Having a marriage breakdown a few years ago and starting all over again just puts everything in perspective. I had no rush in getting in a new relationship but some things happen for a reason.
Delta Madison I’ve always believed that a relationship shouldn’t define who you are as a person. Marriage and babies was never on the agenda for me, and look at me - I have a kid and now engaged. The key is always to have an open mind - personally and professionally.
Delta Madison “I put a lot of thought with my return to wrestling. I took in account of my past mistakes to why my past tenures were abruptly cut short. Now that I’m older and wiser I wanted to prove myself that I do have that longevity in wrestling.
Endee Leights: Younger Sister/Professional Wrestler/ GZWA Alumni I knew Delta had unfinished business in wrestling. She just needed to overcome those setbacks and get back into that driver's seat.
Delta Madison I think coming into GZWA was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career. Right now I’m at my peak physical form having the best matches of my career. Arriving in GZWA with my sister, Endee was an added plus for me because I’ve always wanted to form a team with her. I know in the past I’ve teamed up with the likes of Stephanie Styles and Kristen, but the Ladies of Doom was a creation that I’m so proud of and we achieved so much even though we didn’t win the tag gold.
Endee Leights: Younger Sister/Professional Wrestler/ GZWA Alumni I for once was actually jealous of what she achieved in GZWA. She was exceeded all expectations by becoming one of the top vixen’s in the division. She outlasted so many women to win the inaugural Queen of Queens tournament. I’m so proud of her, but I also hate her for that fact. I can’t lie, it makes me wish I was in her position.
Delta Madison *shrugs* nothing wrong with some sibling rivalry in the squared circle. Teaming with Endee and also wrestling her was something I lived for. It’s always good to have that competitive spirit.
Daniel Widdel Family Friend/GZWA Wrestler Delta was the one who inspired me to come back into wrestling and join GZWA. Seeing her go out perform each time without skipping a beat, set the wheels in motion of my impending return. So thank you Delta, my sister from another mother. *Salutes the camera*
Delta Madison What I like most about my return is society believes when you reach your 30s your career is over and dusted, especially for a female. I like to beg to differ. Being the age I am now has certainly made me more intune with my body. I’m not going out making dastardly risks in my 20, I’m taking more care of my body than I have ever have before. Since my return to GZWA I haven’t had any serious injuries as of yet… knock on wood.
Stefanie Montego Older sister No matter what Delta does, as long as she has that drive inside of her, she’s going to continue to shine. As a big sister, I’m proud to see her becoming the woman she is today.
Jonathan Montego Father My children always point the finger that Delta is my favourite. But I can’t help it, since being a father and seeing what she has achieved and overcome does give a lot of fondness. All my children have gone out and done something worthwhile always puts a smile to my face.
Elijah Williams Fiancé I cannot wait to spend my life with this woman. When she brings out that extra spark in you, that’s when you know she’s someone special. I’m lucky to have found this woman.
Endee Leights: Younger Sister/Professional Wrestler/ GZWA Alumni Oh man, I’m not good at being all sentimental and shit *pouts* But Delta has helped me during my lowest times. She encouraged me to return to wrestling in 2014 to have the best run of my career with her. I wish her all the best in GZWA and wherever her future takes her.
Delta Madison My next goal is to become the Vixen’s Champion so I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I want to continue inspiring anyone and everyone to never give up on your dreams. No matter the hardships and setbacks, you can get back into it. It’s never too late to achieve success as long as you keep being passionate in whatever you want. Stay true to yourself.
NOTE: Most of my NPC are listed here so if you're confused to what and who they are. I couldn't be bothered to make graphics of everyone I interviewed. Thought I would do different approach going into Riot Control!
