Hello, GZWA fans. This is the 8th edition (6th of 2017) of this new thread that I'm going to do after every set of results for a while to get feedback and give you guys a behind the scenes look on why I'm going a certain direction in results and booking via creative, thus explaining the methods to my madness so to speak. Feel free to discuss OOC in the comments.
This episode of Primetime felt a little light to me - at least while I was writing it, but I hope you guys and gals enjoyed it for the most part. You guys don't know how hard it was to resist wasting the entire evening after work last night playing Horizon Zero Dawn instead of posting the show after I had that game still sitting in the plastic until I finished.
BTW I gotta rave about both Samuel helping me out on match-writing for this show during my busy week.
Quick Results & Commentary
This merely continues what I started on ReAction after the last show where Xion his humoring the idea of Veda thinking that she could possibly win her match and be able to insert herself into the Vixen title conversation.
[li]Morgan Davis def. Amanda Cortez (w/ Rose Cortez)[/li]
The opening bit was thanks to ❀ℋine 'ea❀ 's idea while this was the first of many matches Samuel took on this show. I thought it was nice fit to continue all of the antics between Amanda and Morgan leading up to this match. I'll admit that I jokingly suggested the whole "funeral" promo theme for Morgan in relation to hearing about Remy Ma did that on a talk show in relation to her RL beef with Nicki Minaj on the radio that morning a few weeks ago. I'm glad that Morgan and Amanda had fun with that here.
[li]Segment #2 - The Hellions Have a "New Day"?[/li]
A lot of times when Athena and I are bouncing ideas off each other, 9 times out of 10 it turns into something silly and hilarious, but that's how this came about. Athena gave me a quick rundown of it with the Hellions making fun of "traditional" stereotypical, modern wrestlers and I told her to go nuts here. I know I got a good kick out of it.
[li]The Frosts def. Zora Graysen and Ursula Areano[/li]
FYI Zora Graysen gave me a heads up that she would may or may not make the deadlines since she had family coming to stay with her that week and I honestly don't know what happened to Talia Areano during last week's craziness. Another match I asked Samuel to take on the card with it ending with a minor miscommunication between Zora and Ursula for that could lead into their match I have set for the PPV.
[li]Segment #3 - The Enforcers Issue A Warning[/li]
Nothing really special here as I wanted the Enforcers to "fire up" their competition in response for the PPV. I do want to admit that I was a little concerned with most of the tag teams were actually distracted and not really concerned that the tag titles were going to be on the line at the upcoming PPV. I'm not worried though as I figured that everyone would shift gears after this show.
[li]Susie Price def. Missy Sippy; post-match attack by Susie Price[/li]
Now this is where I have to give props to my Golden Girls here Susie Price and @missysippy for writing this match and cooking up everything here on their own together. I'll go ahead and spoil that their PPV match for Final Encounter will be GZWA's first ever Texas Bull Rope Match. Very well done, ladies. Looking forward to see where you take this from here.
[li]Wes Danielson def. Johnny Gargano; CM Punk returns post-match[/li]
Here's the thing with this match. I was racking my brain about how to go about it since Athena merely wanted to write off Gargano since she's going to have her hands full enough playing the Hellions, so I suggested just have Wes take out Gargano as a show of force before she dropped him. When it came to write this match, I kept having writer's block for some reason. Thank goodness Athena gave me the idea to just keep it simple and go into CM Punk making the save. I honestly knew what I wanted Punk to say in his first night back for MONTHS now as we've put this angle off or delayed it so much to the point I had this part written out before even actually doing the match itself. We're going to reveal why Blake and Punk split up sooner more than later, but I'm more paranoid about living up to the high expectations of playing Punk anyway.
[li]Bobbi Jackson def. Veda ScottIo Ono[/li]
I spoke with iDream 's handler before the show and she's having some health complications, so I figured it would be best to have Veda do her own dirty work for once. Nothing too fancy here as I wanted to show off more of Veda's comedic side but she has "some" endurance for a match. She's still clearly no match for Bobbi.
[li]Segment #4 - Bobbi Challenges the Frosts[/li]
For anyone wondering, Bobbi Jackson naming Mariah her partner against TheFrosts wasn't a shoot. TBH Bobbi's been on my bucket list of people to work with for years now. This is Bobbi's "comeback" story and I'm just along for the ride to see where it goes. I need to get that special edition of Reinas up for you guys can see why MiMi's been sidelined for so long. No one's read it other than Athena whose been helping me with commentary. I think that would help everyone understand why Mariah's taken a liking to helping out her newfound friend with her return to the ring.
[li]Konrad Raab def. Jayson Heagerty, Leon Torres, Casey Cortez, and G-Money Briggs to win the right to name the stipulation for Tag Team Turmoil for the PPV[/li]
This was another match that writers' block cooking up spots for. I'm trying not to use too much that I should be saving for the PPV in terms of action, so I was pretty much handicapping myself writing this match even though I got the partners involved regardless. Casey's early elimination was a play back to Gabe's warning in their roleplay leading up to this match where she underestimated her opposition. Figured that would encourage her from a storyline perspective to not take anyone lightly in this match and listen to her boyfriend's veteran experience. I had the Enforcers take themselves out (even though I fear that I'm overusing that spot...) while everyone works together to eliminate them in a promptly manner. With everyone else, I made sure to get all of the partners involved, even if it was just for one spot or two.
[li]Laura Jackson def. Nikki Bella via submission; post-match attack by Alicia Fox[/li]
Another match Samuel took care of on this show. I know that ❤Knightmare INC sent in the last bit and helped out thoroughly with the commentary as well. After the crazy weekend, I have to ask again, did you want to give Nikki and Alicia a match at the PPV or hold off until after you and Pat get back?
[li]Blake Harper def. Maryse Ouellet[/li]
Last match Samuel tackled on this show. Sam really went above and beyond to help me out on writing for this show. Thanks again buddy. I'll be honest. I booked this match as fantasy booking/dream match-up as in my head it's a rematch of back when Sam and Athena worked together in ZXWWF when she was playing Tara/Victoria at the time. I'm sure they were hip to me doing that LOL. Still this was a fun match, which sets the stage for Maryse vs. Ivory.
[li]Ry Drake & Rex Terrell vs. Carnage & The Miz ends in double count-out[/li]
No matter how many ways I could slice it, I couldn't think of a proper finish for this that would amp up the PPV outside of this. I decided on a double count out as it wouldn't make much sense to have the champion being pinned by Miz here when he's not challenging for that title, nor facing Rex at the PPV, so I had to route things to promote the two title feuds. That's why the tag division got involved post-match to hype up that match while
