Mariah sighed heavily after she stepped off the plane and followed the crowd of people to baggage claim. Miami International Airport was her final stop before heading to Columbus, GA for GZWA Primetime tomorrow morning. The past week she spent hanging out of Arielle Ford, Leilani Maivia, and Zora Graysen out in Los Angeles to unwind. Here she wanted to catch up with another friend, none other than Miss Dallas Paige.
Dallas pulls up at the airport in order to pick up MiMi. Since Dallas was planning on letting her stay with her at her place. Since her boyfriend is gone to San Diego and she didn’t want to alone. She patiently waits for Mariah to come out of the airport.
Mariah walks out of the airport, dragging her two luggage bags with her handbag hanging over her shoulder. She sees Dallas sitting by the car and eagerly races over to greet her friend with a warm hug.
“Hey hun, so glad to see you! Thanks again for meeting me here and saving me the headache of getting a taxi.”
“Hey glad to see to you too.”
They hug before Dallas helps Mariah get her luggage into her Navigator. After a few minutes the girls drive off and heads towards her place.
“So how have you been?”
“I’ve been alright. You know me though. I keep a lot on my mind 24/7 between my modeling work off and on, my students’ progress in training and beyond in the wrestling industry, my family and friends of course, and always wondering if I’m getting too old to keep trying to hang with these girls at this stage of my wrestling career.”
MiMi shrugs, “My friend Emily who helps me with training my students when I’m away always tells me that I’m always worrying for nothing, but I can’t help it y’know. I just want to do my best and put my heart into everything 100%. I don’t want to settle for anything less. That’s why I wanted to keep my promise to put aside some time to see you. We haven’t hung out in forever and I wanted to remedy that. Enough of my rambling, how are you doing?”
Dallas laughs a bit.
“You’ll never be too old to hang out with me. Besides I don’t have a lot of people I consider friends especially that are females. Most hate chicks hate me because I have a ton of guys that follow me like puppy dogs. But you’re special, MiMi."
Mariah tilts her head slightly.
“I’m special? I don’t know about all of that, but I don’t understand why most girls give you a hard time. Sure, you’re a bit more risque than most, but my half-sister is a little extreme with her exhibitionist/hedonistic behavior at times. She’s a fetish model after all, so a lot of girls give her slack about that since she uses her social media accounts to promote that over her wrestling career. Regardless, I still love her the same too. It’s your life after all. It’s not like you’re making those guys follow you around like lost puppies.”
“You’re definitely special MiMi. I mean you actually come here out of your way to hang out with me. You don’t get jealous that I have a bunch of guys that swoon over me, wanting to get my attention. You see me as a person which is refreshing. Besides you need to relax and not be so intense all the time."
“Of course I see you as a person, Dallas! I don’t ever see the people that I have the honor of calling my friends as pieces of meat or objects. I cherish the fact that I have friends like you to remind me that it’s alright to kick back and relax every now and then instead of allowing the weight of the world to crush me.”
Mariah ponders in thought at Dallas’ words before adding one more thing, “I suppose you’re right. I do worry an awful lot, don’t I?”
Dallas nods as the two share a laugh together.
Mariah smiles back at her friend, “I’ll tell you what. You show me a good time tonight and you won’t hear a peep from me about what’s troubling me. We have a lot of catching up to do anyway. You have to tell me about this amazing guy that you got in your life now. I don’t have to spank him for not treating you like the princess that you are, right?”
Dallas’ face immediately reddened as she blushed behind her sunglasses, “No, but you’re going to have to leave the spankings to me… if you catch my drift. No one's spanking Scotty but me.”
She stopped at the stoplight to lift her sunglasses briefly to wink back at the Showstoppin’ Senorita and playfully nudges her.
“You rarely come out here to Miami to visit, so you better believe that I’m going to make sure we have a lot of fun tonight before your flight in the morning. Live for the moment, MiMi, and enjoy the little things. If you go looking for stress and anguish all the time, it will always find you. Tonight’s going to be all about getting your mind off all of that.”
Mariah reclines her chair back and kicks her feet up on the dashboard, “Okay then, Dallas, I’m putty in your hands for this day of fun in the sun. Let’s get this party started!”
The light turns green as Dallas floors the gas as the Navigator sped off with the sound of everyone looking on hearing their combined cheers of “YAAASSSSSS!!!!” echoing throughout their wake.
What mischief did these two get into that day and night?
Well… that’s a tale for another day, GZWA fans...
Monday, July 17, 2017... 10:12AM
Mariah stood out on the balcony of her hotel suite, overlooking the horizon after arriving to Columbus, GA this morning. Her mind was full of wonder and anticipation for the day ahead of her. She is scheduled to work with Sensational Mary (...oh joy…) conduct open tryouts for potential new signings prior to tonight’s Primetime live taping. On that same card, she’s set to face against most of the entire division in a Gauntlet Match for a potential Vixen Championship opportunity against none of than the reigning champion herself - Blake Harper.
Her mind raced mainly over the latter as she knew these tryouts wouldn’t be too much of a hassle as despite their differences of opinion at times, her and Mary had a routine that worked for the best.
This Gauntlet Match wasn’t going to be nothing to sneeze at and take lightly. No, this is quite serious. Xion and Brooklyn were stacking the deck to bring a proper challenger to Blake Harper’s reign after her weeks of open challenges didn’t go as The Machine may have desired. Roughly every woman on the roster with an active compete clause on their contract is qualifier to be in this match. That ranged from everyone from women thought to be merely managers like Ashleigh Cash and even Veda Scott (who even decides to participate in this match at all) to women who have been begging, scratching and clawing for their moment to shine in a golden opportunity like this - such as Ursula Areano, Crystal Millar, Susie Price, Sarah Richardson, and Jennifer Dunn, before ending with veterans like myself, Morgan Davis, Amber Torres, Maryse Ouellet, Nikki Bella, Alicia Fox, and Laura Jackson.
This match was already a star-studded affair if GZWA Management didn’t add any more additional “surprises” on the fly.
Unlike most Vixens lined-up in this match, Mariah knew what to expect from this type of match. It was going to be contest of endurance. It wasn’t going to have all of these women fighting at once. No, that would be too chaotic and easy to exploit. Instead, this would be in the vein of the Riot Control (read: Royal Rumble) format, whereas each woman would enter on a one-on-one basis as a normal match. Once a pinfall or submission has been scored, then the next woman would replace the defeated Vixen with this routine repeating until all entrants have entered the match and have been eliminated with one woman standing. It’s a brilliant survival of the fittest strategy to produce the best challenger possible out of our current crop of Vixens.
"A lot is on the line with this Gauntlet Match tonight for the coveted #1 Contendership for a future Vixen Championship opportunity. On one hand, I feel like GZWA Management is stepping on Blake Harper’s toes when she went out of her way to put the championship on a golden platter with her open challenges over the past few weeks since she won the title, but if Blake truly wishes to be tested - much like how Didgitz gave her all against Vi Malkov in her opportunity for the Queen of Queens Championship in last Primetime main event, then she has to face someone who is physically able to survive a challenge like this.
Normally, I would stress myself out and worry about every little detail and possible outcome and scenario for a match like this. No, not today. That Mariah is taking a break. I’m confident as well as honored to set into the ring with the best this company has to offer. I would have preferred to face the Frosts siblings along with Bobbi Jackson in this match as well, but I understand that they have their hearts set on winning those GZWA Tag Team Championships. I’m willing to wait for my chance to cross paths with each of them one-on-one in the ring down the road. Just something more to look forward to in the future.”
Mariah looks down at her trembling hands gripping onto the railing of the balcony and smiles before continuing.
“I can’t explain this feeling but for once, I’m not nervous about this match. Better yet… I’m actually trembling with excitement for this level of competition. This is what I missed for so long when I was off on the sidelines following my injuries that I suffered in the wake of defeating Gail Kim at Reina de Reinas Dos. Why should I be nervous? Anything could happen in a match like this. No need to fear the unexpected. The best strategy for me is to roll with it and adapt to whatever comes my way on the fly. Out of all of the women on this roster, I’m the most seasoned Vixen since I have been here since Day 1 when the doors of this company first opened. I’m confident that my in-ring experience will be more than enough to survive this challenge.”
She stares out at the cars passing by and the pedestrians scurrying about in their everyday lives below.
“It would be easy for me to run down each of my opponents, cutting shade, spilling the tea if you will on what I personally think of their odds against me if our paths cross tonight. It would be easy to look down upon my peers, like the typical catty women do from their self-made pedestals that their egos have elevated them upon. I could easily point out who has been slacking off in their training and focus, who hasn’t been giving GZWA their all like they pop off by the mouth about doing 24/7 yet we haven’t done a thing in that ring we call home to reflect those claims. No, I’m not going to lower myself to that level and stand up here like I have not done anything wrong with my life and my career. We’re human. We make mistakes and the best of us learn from those mistakes and become even better individuals. I deserve to have my career and life choices analyzed underneath the microscope as well. I have done some unsavory things in my life that I’m not too proud of but I am ready to die by those decisions as they won’t mark me for the rest of my life. People may judge or ridicule me, but that won’t stop my passion and determination to be better friend, mentor, role model, and competitor than I was yesterday. As long there is breath in this body, I won’t ever stop evolving and striving to be the best I can be in this sport.”
Mariah stretched her body, rolling her head and neck side to side, before ending by cracking her knuckles.
“Watch out, ladies. I’m aiming to win tonight.”
