The opening shot was that of the GWZA Reina de Reinas belt, the championship that Vi Malkov held proudly. GZWA has established her as an enigmatic force; her name is spoken over the airwaves as a woman who shows up when she wants to and defends what is hers. This Primetime, Vi Malkov has been scheduled to defend her championship more against potentially the toughest challenger that she had yet. Beth Phoenix and her swapped a few words over Twitter, but thanks in part to Vi’s disregard for social media, she disappeared once more. However, the words that were said settled in Vi’s psyche as the camera pans back to reveal the champion, sitting in the same monochromatic environment that she was before. She reached her hand over the belt to tap on the nameplate.
“218 days.”
“Blake Harper might have her little open defences and what have you, but 218 days I’ve been champion. So far I have only knocked off one woman in the giant scheme of what Mary Joyner had put in front of me. What a challenge, I thought,” Vi tapped on her chin, “you know, I was really excited for all the people I would get to face in this long journey to taking the GZWA Women’s Championship, but then I had a little moment. Didgitz came up to me with her little retirement bit and her disrespect to my name. On that day, I had an epiphany.”
“I think every woman that I have to fight looks at me and asks the question: does she think that she beat me?”
“I’ll answer that question, but first I must give a little background to why my answer has changed.”
“I used to say that I don’t care. All the pleasantries and the glamour never got to me. However, GZWA is home to some of the most disrespectful individuals that I’ve ever met. Unfortunately for each and every last one of them, I have come to realize that…”
Vi actually smiled for once, derisive as it may be.
“Yes, I can. I can beat any woman that Mary puts in front of me and more.”
“You see, this championship right here means that I have conquered fifteen women to get here. By the end of this trial by fire that Mary has set up, I will have conquered them twice over. Personally, I would have loved to face all the seven other women that were in that final battle royal first. Mary’s a little more theatric than I. She’d rather enjoy me going through and smashing in all of the faces of the people who had to look in from the outside.”
“Which brings me to my opponent.”
“The second trial comes in form of Beth Phoenix, a former GZWA Women’s Champion.”
“Firstly, I ought to ask you about the obvious. All of these years of failure and you thought you can come back to stop me?” Vi squinted her eyes, “opportunity knocks, but this is a trap you’re walking into. For everything that you are, you should be intelligent too. You left with your tail between your legs but you came right back when the door opened for you to try to win this pretty belt right in front of me. Sadly, you had an unfortunate encounter and found yourself on the receiving end of a heavy loss. And most of all, I saw that, and I saw something else.”
“Later that night, you came out with the other people who lost out, and you had to be a lumberjack for the finals. Standing next to Didgitz, a two-time victim, you watched as Brooklyn got eliminated,” Vi made a mocking motion of someone getting set out of the ring with a long whistle behind it, “you saw your hopes of being the woman who lost to the eventual winner go up in flames. All that time, you had to gaze up and wait for the end of that long night. At the very end, you looked at me with such disdain as I sent Ashley Maldano out of the ring and came out the victor.”
“My interview afterwards? Did it sting?”
“You heard this relative unknown come in and say that she was bored and signed up. That same girl went on to win what you probably planned months for. With all these titles under your belt, and that beautiful Hall of Fame ring on your finger, it seriously must hurt to know that you don’t have one title. And you never will.”
“You can be the Mother, the Graduate, the ex-Women’s Champion, the Hall of Famer, hell, you could proclaim that you are the best and the strongest female in the world, but losing at Primetime...what does that mean for you? Huh?”
“It means that Vi Malkov, amidst her legendary reign and her undefeated record, beat you. And once again, Beth Phoenix will have to sit home, dreaming of the could-have’s and the could-not’s. You will dissect every bit of your tape like I did for you, and you will realize that the unknown is just that much stronger than you. It’ll be another stack on top of the countless failures leading to you walking away from the company. I saw you lose the belt, I saw you get eliminated first back in that Survivor Series match, and most importantly, I saw Brookyln Glamourous put you down.”
“People only give you the reputation of being dominant because it’s what you used to be.”
“Welcome to the new age, Beth Phoenix. I’m Vi Malkov, and I’m the new face of dominance. I’ve torn my way through any federation that I’ve been in. The only reason why I’m not the Women’s Champion right now is because Mary wants me to run through everyone again. She’s trying to get the most out of my appearances as she can. This is a welcoming party for Vi Malkov, the future GZWA Women’s Champion. You’re a party favor, a decoration. You’re the fool brought in for me to beat up.”
“When you say that you have a brutal record too, what do you have to show for it? I'll tell you. You have only inklings in the past that tell the tale while I have people dreading the next time that I show up. I hear people like Maryse and Harper talk ill about me because I don’t show up to every show. But when I do, what happens?”
“I make messes.”
“I destroy little Cinderella stories like Didgitz.”
“I make champions quake in my wake.”
“You, Beth Phoenix, what am I going to do to you?” Vi pointed at the camera.
“It’s very simple, if you think hard on it.”
“I’m going to emasculate you.”
Vi paused.
“To give you the easier version of what I just said,” Vi cleared her throat.
“When we fight, despite how strong and dominant you are and may have been…”
“At Primetime, Vi Malkov is going to make a bitch out of Beth Phoenix.”
