Devils May Cry 2017 Press Conference (o2a)

OOC Note: This RP thread is open to everyone currently booked on the match card for this event to serve two purposes - 1) to hype up your individual feuds and matches going into the PPV and 2) to create some activity with the silence around the forum over the last few weeks. (rolf) Treat this like a "professional" setting for your characters answering questions from the fans in the crowd and from the press media covering this event, so it wouldn't be like your traditional promos. If you need to see a live action example, this isn't a bad one to look at below.



Below you'll find an introduction to get you guys started... FYI I'm going to add more this, but I wanted to open this thread before I left from work this afternoon.

The GZWA Chairman stands at the podium, taking a moment to usher the crowd to ease their chatter among themselves before speaking into the microphone. 

GZWA Chairman | Xion Zeros: "I want to open with that the GZWA Nation has those affected by the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and Irma within their thoughts and prayers during this crisis. We will have a special auction during Devils May Cry weekend with various memorbilia up for sale to the highest bidders, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund."

Sensational Mary leaned over the microphone from her chair to add, "I'll be donating an unspecified amount as an act of charity from the Joyner Family Estate to show that we care. I'm not completely heartless after all..."

Xion continues, "On September 18th, Ground Zero Wrestling Association will hold its second Pay-Per-View event of 2017, which you know as Devils May Cry. All active championships, including the World Heavyweight Championship, Tag Team Championship, and the Vixens - now referred to as the Women's Championship, will be defended at this event by their respective champions. The main event shall see reigning champion Ry Drake defend his World Heavyweight Championship in a 3-on-3 tag team match, whereas the stacks are higher than ever before for our reigning champion who is mere days away from holding the title from nearly an entire year. The question is going to be can who can trust their own allies to have his back in match like this or should he concern himself about the opposition even more. 

We shall have a literal battle of the sexes as the Honourable Princes will defend their Tag Team Championships against the trio consisting of the Frost sisters and Bobbi Jackson. With the Freebirds rule in effect, the Princes have accepted the challenge made by these women which would allow any two of these women to challenge the champions. 

While we're on the subject of tag team wrestling in GZWA, I want to remind our fans, partners, and affiliates that the Stardom Tag Team Classic is going to start this Fall. With the tag team wrestling scene looking stronger than ever in 2017, we're expecting to see a lot of top notch tag teams in competition for this year's tournament."

Mary interjects once more from her microphone seated in front of her space at the table, "Hot off the heels of that announcement, I want to remind the GZWA Nation that I'm scouting the best talent within our industry to represent women's wrestling for the third annual Reina de Reina Tres tournament in December. Last year's winner Vi Malkov has been on the warpath as the reigning Queen of Queens Champion and I'm confident that she will be walking into the tournament with her undefeated streak intact. It's just going to be a matter of finding women worthy of her time to face in this tournament.

Scouting will be done by myself and Mariah, just like we run GZWA's open tryouts prior to all live events. If you know some aspiring female talents that would want to take advantage of this opportunity then be my guest and send them our way for we can review their resumes and in-ring work. The facts are right before your eyes - women who have competed in this tournament over the past two years have gone on to excel in not only GZWA but in other various wrestling promotions around the globe."

Pretty relaxed Amanda sits there at the podium and plays with her micro. She isn’t really interested in talking about her match, but being on tv she always likes. She smiles into the direction of the camera, knowing that she looks really good and sexy, but she’s a bit lost in thoughts. But then someone asks her why she tries it so desperate to get the title.

“Oh …gimme a second …”

It doesn’t take very long and she answers.

“Ok, it’s a long story, but I’ll make it short. I’m in that title run because I’m forced to do it. I owe GZWA some money and so I have to do what they want me to do. I, personally, would have preferred to retire, but it seems that the bosses have other plans for me. I don’t like it, but I have no choice.”

Then they ask her how she sees her chances to win the title.

“I don’t know. Really, I have no clue. I mean me and my sister Casey are the only women in this match and I think this isn’t really fair. Just look at these guys, how big and strong they are … and then tell me what you think.
Ok, that might not count for my sister …”

Amanda starts to laugh.

“She also looks like a guy and if I wouldn’t know her for such a long time, I’d say that she has a penis …
But now lets become serious again. I’m not sure how all this will end. I mean these fucking guys are really strong, but they are also fucking stupid. So that might be my chance. I’m in this job for such a long time, so that I’ll find a way to make the pin. Yes, and then I’m the new champion.”

Then she gets asked what comes next and she smiles.

“Well, that’s easy. I’ll hand the title to the machine and then I’m gone. I mean that I’ll retire and there’s nothing that can stop me. I don’t wanna end as an old relic in the ring and ending my career as the champ would be damn cool.”

Some of the fans applaud and Amanda smiles, hoping that now the next wrestler will get asked some questions.

{Ry Drake taps the mic, places his Championship on the table and stands up.}

Ry: You done yet Amanda? And people hate me when you say you're only in the match because your forced too. I never heard of anyone bitter about getting a title match. Stop playing victim already and just leave. It's a disgrace in the ring with someone like you!

Ry: As for Jayson and Justin, I wish I could say good luck, I wish I could say this is my biggest challenge in my almost year long*as he says that looks at Xion.* Championship reign. But it's not, I hear all this back talk about people belittling my reign, saying I'm hiding! Everyone knows where I'm at, how am I hiding. Maybe it's the fact no one steps up! But no I'm hiding from people it's all on me.

Ry: I've been called a lot worse and still here so yea Fuck the Hate! Oh I'm sorry did I say a no-no word? Did we lose sponsors? As if I care! So Let me send this home! At Devils May Cry I will retain, my squad will pull through despite the stipulation and We will all look good doing it! Who's next up?

{Ry Drake walks past Amanda, Justin and Jayson who are sitting down. Ry Drake drops the mic at Jayson's feet next to him and makes his way to his seat.}

It was time for his first press conference but he wasn't alone.He brought a friend with him if you will Skylar Stryker one of the newest divas on the GZWA roster. Thinking it was a great way for him to get noticed into the professional wrestling world.It couldn't hurt right?

Chance? one of the reporters asked getting his attention ,



what brings you down here in the first place? You're one of the newer talents correct? Chance nods his head. Yeah, that stung a bit but it was like he couldn't do anything about it but to suck it up.

I am,thought it be a good idea for my newer future fans to get to know me better. So ask away everybody im not shy. Skylar blushed starting to feel the light flashes blinking from her eyes. Chance squeezes her hand under the table telling her its okay.And they gave each other a code in case the other needs to leave.

You may have lost your first debut match against Jayson Heagerty,how are you dealing with that? Skylar glanced at him who told her it was okay. Suffering losses isn't something you worry about in this sport. Yeah,it might be if your keeping count to perse a championship opportunity,but if your living the dream you want. He pauses to smile lightly at the cameras You don't put a price or worry about the downside.

And are you doing what you love to do?

I wouldn't be here otherwise right? the crowd murmurs among themselves. Look,i may not have been finding my own since i came here. But that's because i lost my father just before coming here to GZWA. And with a injury that i currently rehabbing on it makes you question your faith in where you truly belong at times. Hating to admit his shame in the past few weeks. I'm not using that as excuses though. Jayson despite using every tactic he had. He was the better man that night.He won the match.It sure as hell wasn't fair but it was dirty.

Now he has a championship opportunity tomorrow night...

Indeed he does.I'm not going to lie and say he deserved to be involved in the championship opportunity this early. But i'm not to judge someone on how they run their own business. Or career. In this business you live by two rules.1)You do whatever you have to in order to survive, and 2)trust your gut and watch your back. You have no friends no allies. There is a reason why some out of all aren't cut for the big leagues.

Do you think your ready? Chance ponders that same question just before Who is your guest tonight? Are you two dating? Does Casey know about this? Skylar's eyes widen at the last sentence.

I'm ready to make my return to GZWA. I'm healing as i go but this upcoming ppv match is to determine that i am focused.That i can give it my all. And show everybody that i'm not a lost cause to give up on or to look the other way.My name is Chance for a reason. All i'm asking is for just that,a chance to showcase what i have to offer.

Now not many people know you were a stable in the indy feds. Will we see your partner somewhere down this journey of yours?

Honestly? Glancing at Skylar who gave him a small smile I'm not sure,Casey's still wrestling here and there. Not to mention going to be a father in the upcoming months. He has a lot on his plate at the moment. But you do get to witness another upcoming superstar in the making whenever she debuts

Lockhart? As in the late Jax Lockhart? And that would mean...she nods her head proudly

my mother is indeed Angelica Lockhart,but you'd know her best as Tina Angel Shock's and whispers among the crowd begins to form.

i can see why you two wants to step out of that crazy family tree everybody laughs Skylar what are you hoping to get out of this journey?

Right now i've been getting trained by Candice Lerae,Brani Rhodes,who has been a big help,Cherry Bomb,Gail Kim... who has been giving me pointers...i'm just so grateful i have mentors who already know what its like to be in the spotlight.Who has to fumble with the pressure. Of course i got some pointers from my moms about what to and not to do. But this is my journey, nobody knows me other than my famous last name. Unlike some i don't tend to drive well
on the past. This is the future,and for what i want my future to be,is learning how i go. I know i'm not going to pull a Gail Kim one day,by winning the championship on your first day.

i wouldn't mind a golden opportunity but unlike my fellow superstars instead of 'asking' for one i rather prove it

would you be okay fighting guys? As we've seen that this company is pretty unpredictable at times

Um.. thinking about the question i know its becoming a common deal here now everywhere you look. But yeah,i love making history no matter where i am or what i do. I had a few rowdy customers when i was bar tending during last year. I can manage to hold my own. I may not be as popular as the next guy,but give me a chance if you will playfully shoving him over i can hold my own with the best of them...

A bit annoyed Amanda listens to what the others have to say, especially Ry Drake. She roles her eyes And growls, then she takes the micro again.

"Ok, you idiot, I'm not bitter to get a title match, I'm just pissed off. As you might remember, I wanted to retire a while ago, but they didn't let me. That's why I'm mad. But I spent the last days with thinking about why they put me in this match.
Well, I'm not so sure about it, but maybe one reason is, that they couldn't find anyone better. And another reason is to show the worls what a joke of a champion you are, if you lose that title to a weaker woman.
Ok, I think that you already proved, that you are a fucking weakling, when you hide behind Rex and my sister Casey. Or how would you call that? Have you ever won a match alone? I don't think so. And this time it won't be different. You'll leave the ring as the sore loser you are.
You might laugh about me, but at the end I'll be the one who laughs when you hand me your fucking title.
And now do us all a favor and fuck off."

Till noe Casey has stayed quiet and just listened to the whole thing. She doesn't like that talking very much and so it goes on her nerves. Now it seems that her sister Amanda is finished and that's her chance to speak.

"Ok Amanda, and now shut up. Nobody wanna hear your wining. In the past you've been a good wrestler, but this times are over. Now you're nothing more than a relic.
And now let's come to Jayson and Justin. You two are only laughable. How can you be so stupid to think that you'll have a chance against our team? You can't even win a singles match and now you wanna go for the title? Damn, that's idiotic and I don't even know how you managed it to get a spot in this match. But anyway, I'm gonna break your backs."

For a moment she pauses.

"So you see. It's easy to say who wins this match. The team of Ry Drake."

Again she pauses a d then she winks.

"But whom of us will make the pin and become the new champion I won't tell. It'll be a nice surprise."

The she shoves her micro to the side.

[Chris Matthews]

We see Chris sitting down in a chair as he was called up by one of the news reporters. Chris is wearing a black sleeveless shirt and black tinted shades on his face.

“Chris, this is amy from ABC news. What is it like going into the match with you long lasting Rively with Equinox?”

“It’s outstanding as the guy is talent and deserves more credit than what people is giving him. Equinox to me has that ‘IT’ factor that every company is wanting on their roster. But Equinox is going to learn exactly why I’m going to be at the top of my game coming Devil may cry. I wish him nothing but the best of luck as I know both of us is going to be going into this match with our head held up.”

"Chris, this is Jeff from NBC news. Will you cheat your way in this match?”

“I’ve been known to bend the rules in my favor and it’ll be impossible to cheat as Equinox knows my every move. So your question is invalid right now and move on.”

“Can you tell us about how the rivalry started between you two?”

“Our rivalry started back in the now dead and forgotten TWE. All I can remember is that he got jealous on me when I was pushed to the front of the line for the World Title. I honestly don’t know what bullshit was running through the minds of TWE and why they did that but I don’t regret it as I become a two time TWE world champion. But here we are now aren’t we?”

He snickers as continues to look at the reporters. He then grab his bottle of water and drinks it. He then puts it down as he continues.

“At Devil may cry, I’m going to show Equinox why I am the IconSlayer.”

Jayson, Justin... you two have been pretty quite over there.

States one of the reporters.

You want my thoughts on Justin and the other losers I have to take the belt from?

Jayson asks, taking a sip of his water before speaking.

Amanda is all talk. The only reason she is here is because she doesn't want to go back on the stripper pole.

The crowd raddels.

What that not PC for you? Well your really not gonna like this. The World Champion is a fucking joke. The only reason he has that thing is because Casey is licking his ass and Rex is kissing his ass. I'm so sick of there little threesome thinking they matter. Ry is a pussy and I'm gonna take that title off him.

He turns towards Justin.

As for him, Justin you are no threat... your an afterthought. You known why I was brought into the title picture? Because Zion knew you could not finish the job. He knew Mandy would be more concern about tickling her wife than taking the World Championship. They need a new champ...

He ends up standing up and bending over to speak in the mic.

... not a chumpion!

Justin laughs.

You think I'm a chump? Tell me that when I'm standing with the championship.

Jayson comes over to Justin, as the two go nose to nose.

Do something, do something! I dare you.

With that Jayson makes a move and instead of pushing Justin, he ends up walking behind Ry Drake and slaps him in the back of the head. The champion of course gets up shouting in anger as Jayson eggs him on, as Casey and Rex now come between the them.. as Jayson goes to sit again. 

See this is all it's been. Cheap shots and attacks from behind... but unlike Jayson over there Ry you known one thing, if I wanted to hurt you... I'll do it a like a man. Face to face, in the ring.

Jayson just mocks him, as the situation has become rather tense.

You can call me whatever you want. It's all talk I know I'm the hardest worker her, the best worker here. I will overcome Sunday and go on to continuing my run as Champion.

Ry: Justin, all that goodie " Oh I will fight you to your face" shit gets old. To be a champion you need to be able to do dirt. And I don't see that in your soul. You gotta do what you can to be champion. I do whatever it takes to get the W and still put on 5 star matches. I'm a premium talent that need premium pay. So the reason I'm not defending against every joe and "hiding" is because I'm looking out for my self. I won't be the wrestler to retire early because I fought everyone. So if I'm a coward for not being out there as Champion then I'll be a coward to you! But I call it being smart.
