A week delay, but I hope everyone enjoyed the show.
This effing show, was a nightmare for me writing it at one point though. Last weekend, I thought I had it set to go up, but I just choked writing all three of the title matches and I completely blanked. I dunno what it was. I stared at the three title matches and it was huge wall of writer's block. I don't blame you guys, I blame myself. Those of you who roleplayed and posted up promos made this VERY tough to judge. I swear though... the last two weeks of Ultima Lucha Tres on Lucha Underground really got the ball rolling again though.
To add on that, I got sick with the flu this past week, but I didn't want to give you guys another excuse, so in my better (or lesser in this case) I posted the first few matches when my fever wasn't as high Thursday night. It's still going up and down, but I feel better today than I did yesterday and the bulk of the week.
I'll have to play catch-up on social media, namely Twitter, as I haven't looked at my e-fed accounts since last weekend. TBH I felt like I epic failed on the promotional stuff for this PPV on here (the press conference thread) and social media (the so-called "DmC event weekend" and company banquet). Reflecting on that, combined with a few things in my RL currently I care not to talk about, just honestly flat out got me depressed myself for a few days. That and a few things I had to cut out of this show from no-shows and last second scheduling that I could have remedied with better foresight and preparation. That includes one more match that I completely omit from these results that I even made a banner for (see below), but I don't blame Vi. nor her challenger for in the least.
I literally cooked up the match idea that weekend where I made the last postponement for the results and even got a joint-segment collaborated on to set it up, but it never went up, so I'm merely going to save it for ReAction and the following episode of Primetime.
Hopefully, this show was worth the wait for you guys. Feel free to sound off in the comments below.
Sarah Richardson def. Zabrina Masters
Nothing really surprising here. sarahrichardson was the only one who roleplayed for the match, so it was a win for her. I'm guessing that The Grand Zabrina overlooked the deadlines.
Chance Justice def. Luke Force and Desmond Masters
Like the previous match, ❤Knightmare INC was the only one who roleplayed for the match, so it was a win for Chance. No idea what happened to lukeforce and terrormaster
Laura Jackson def. Zora Graysen
Zora Graysen informed me that she wouldn't be able to make the deadline for the show, so going in I knew Laura Jackson was going to win this. Still tried to make this interesting as I firmly believe that they could get a good feud out of this down the road.
The Mega Busters def. The Enforcers
TBH on my original outline, I had the Busters losing hard in a squash match. I dunno what it was, but I felt like I had to give them a win for once since I have been enjoying writing them lately. Besides, I had plans for the Enforcers later in the show, so the loss here wasn't going to hurt them as long as they made the statement at the end.
Segment #1 - Brooklyn Glamorous meets with Lily Evol
I merely asked SinCityDollz if she wanted to contribute to the show in some fashion and she wanted to tease a new character that she wants to bring in at some point.
Mariah def. Maryse Ouellet
With a heavy heart, I was expecting more from this feud but shit happens IRL and Samuel wasn't able to make the deadlines due to him being shipped home from Hawaii at the end of his military deployment. He didn't get internet access back fully until a few days ago, but by that point I already had this entire match already written in its entirety. That's one reason why I went ahead and posted Mariah's roleplay for this match as a separate promo instead being broken up into separate individual segments throughout this show.
Best of Three Falls - Equinox def. Chris Matthews
When I spoke to Chris Matthews on Twitter he was fully committed to roleplaying for the show despite having his hands full IRL. I don't know what happened between that time and when this show went up. KingOfHighSpots I know you were looking for one hell of a match, but I apologize if it wasn't up to your expectations. I tried to make it back and forth as finale to you two's fabled rivalry to do it justice. I felt it wouldn't have been fair to you if it was tied to go to a last fall when you were the only one who roleplayed for the match.
GZWA Women's Championship Match - Susie Price def. Blake Harper (c), Talia Areano, and Crystal Millar to become the NEW champion
The four of you are going to laugh, but there was a point after the last exchange where all four women stood off where I completely blanked for like 3 days and I had NO idea how to end this match. My brain pretty much went like Patrick Star's here.
The hardest part for me was ending it while making it each of the challengers look good. The injury angle credit goes to Athena but I felt it was proper that Susie Price won off that given Susie's deranged nature. I know it's oddly similar to what Sexy Star did to Rosemary, but in this scenario, I made sure to credit that the injury was due to a combination of the abuse that Blake was enduring in this match and her body finally gave out. Talia Areano and sarahrichardson don't sell yourselves short. I made sure that you weren't pinned in the finish as you're both more than welcome to continue chasing the title. I firmly believe in you ladies for stepping up and holding down the Women's Division right now.
GZWA Tag Team Championship Match - Bobbi Jackson & Eliza Frost def. The Honourable Princes (c) to become the NEW tag champs
Another match that was pretty hard for me to judge. Samuel wasn't able to roleplay for this match either, despite "The Iceman" Konrad Raab doing his damnest to hold it down for both of them. In that regard, I made sure that the Iceman wasn't to blame for them losing the titles as Sam ate the losing submission. This way it furthers both teams' ongoing narratives - Bobbi Jackson and TheFrosts continue their budding alliance while the question is up in the air on whether or not this loss is going to cause a rift between Raab and Samuel.
GZWA World Heavyweight Championship Match - Amanda pins Ry Drake to become the NEW champion after surviving teaming up with Jayson Heagerty and Justin Lockhart against Ry Drake, Rex Terrell, and Casey Cortez
Now for the double whammy shocker that ends the show...
If I didn't make the last second stipulation change, it was going to make this match a lot more difficult to write. Besides, we saw combinations of this on the previous episodes of Primetime leading up to this and I was starting to feel like I was having deja vu writing this. ❤Rose❤ asked for Rose's involvement here and Casey's double cross on Drake while BulletxToxThexHeart suggested the tease with Rex turning on Drake as well for added drama. I took the positive feedback from Patrick and applied it here, ensuring Jayson and Justin had plenty of moments to shine here, including the moment where they turned on each other to add another layer of deception in this match.
As for the finale with the return of Carnage we had that one planned for a while now. It was just a matter of setting it up. Carnage just sent me the segment and told me to squeeze it into the show where it should fit. That's where I got the idea to give the Enforcers the spot of "handing the win" to Amanda as Carnage would have a firm reason to come out and piss in the Cheerios of the Machine getting their way. I thought that would be a fun way to end the show.
