The night time enters, as a great blackness fills the sky. Outside of a park, a short, hooded, feminine figure observes the clouds with a look of despair and misery.
Looks like rain...
After the bright, youthful, but bitter voice utters this sarcastic remark, a huge burst of rain then comes crashing down almost directly over the girl, who chuckles sarcastically.
Smashing...
The girl pulls her hood down, and stares at the sky as the rain slides down her hair and face, appearing not to bother her at all that she is being soaked and frozen.
Happy New Year, Katie...You daft old tit...
Katie continues walking about, continuing to let the rain fall on her. She eventually reaches her destination, a decent looking penthouse.
Home Shit Home...
She kicks the door open, and unzips her hoodie, revealing her dark purple belly top, with a scratch mark on her chest..
Katie? Is that you?
Katie's eyes widen as she recognises the soft and polite voice ahead. She bends her head and walks towards the voice, discovering Sarah Draven, her only friend, and to Katie, her lover. She nervously looks down and puts her hands in front of herself, like a shy child.
Uh....hi Sarah...How was...uh...your Christmas and New Year?
It was alright, but it wasn't that fun really. How about you?
Katie sheepishly rubs her hands through her wet hair trying to look presentable and trys to smile.
Lots of walking in the rain and snow. I had a right good laugh. Would have been better if I was with you though.
Sarah chuckles and hugs Katie, who sighs passionately.
Yeah...I missed you too...I hope you don't mind me popping by, I was just worried about you, considering last time I saw you, you were a nervous wreck, acting as if you'd just killed me or something.
Sarah, if I knew you were in pain, I don't know what I'd do.
Oh relax, Katie, I can handle myself. I mean, I'm not exactly your lover so you don't have to make sure I'm always OK.
Katie chuckles nervously, and moves over to sit down, where she sighs.
Anyway, I'll be upstairs if you need me, so just call me if you want me.
As Sarah goes upstairs, the leather hooded Katie's smile slowly vanishes, and she steps up, looks at the ground depressingly, and punches the wall. She puts her hood up, and begins to sing to herself quietly in an eerie tone.
I can try to pretend...I can try to forget...but it's driving me mad, going out of my head...
Katie pulls her hood down as she moves to the door, angrily headbutts it and leaves the penthouse. Her forehead bleeds from the blow, and the rain washes it down her face, making her skin a darker shade of pink, as she admires the night sky. She kneels, puts her arms together in a prayer motion, then closes her eyes tightly.
Dear God...As one of your children, I beg of you, if you truly exist, prove it to me, by granting this request. Bring Me and Sarah together, as it's meant to be...Please God, I don't want to be alone again...I need her...please...Amen...
As she finishes her prayer, Katie looks at the sky again for a moment before slowly looking at her reflection in a puddle, and stops fighting the tears and lets herself cry into the night.
