Dominique Frost yawns as she walks down the stairs of the Showtime mansion, on her way to the kitchen to grab a drink, her throat feeling rather parched. It's the middle of the night but she just can't seem to fall asleep, too much going on in her head to get sufficiently relaxed. She has a hand on the railing as she takes each step rather carefully, the room only lit by a flickering light coming in from the den. The tall blond raises an eyebrow at this as she walks to the doorway and glances in, seeing Showtime sitting on the couch, watching stand up, the audio turned down enough that she can't quite make out what the jokes are about. Showtime, who has pretty damn good hearing senses someone is behind him as he speaks without turning.
Showtime: Everything alright Bobbi?
He asks figuring if anyone was gonna be up and about this hour, it would be his wife. Dominique can't help smirking a bit at Showtime guessing the wrong blond. She walks on into the den.
Domi: Not a bad guess, you got the hair color right, heh heh.
Showtime raises an eyebrow slightly as he situates on the couch to look over at the approaching tall blonde in a silky red robe.
Showtime: Well it's usually the correct guess. I can't ever recall you walking around the house at this hour, everything alright?
She walks up to the couch, leaning forwards as she rests her elbows against the backrest.
Domi: I'm just having some trouble sleeping and got thirsty waiting for sleep. I have... a lot on my mind.
She tries to suppress a sigh, but a hint of it escapes her lips. Showtime is even more thrown off guard by the sudden sigh as this is certainly a demeanor he never sees coming from the usually very confident and certain blonde. He instinctively pats the couch next to him a few times and replies as simply as he can.
Showtime: Want to sit down and talk about it?
Dominique briefly hesitates, but then rounds the end of the couch and takes a seat, looking at the TV screen, but not paying attention to what's actually on it.
Domi: I've just had some... doubts, is all. About just what I'm doing.
Showtime: Well um...
Michael stalls a bit for time as he processes his response inside his head, luckily it comes quicker than he thought it would.
Showtime: Care to elaborate? I mean, I don't want to pry...but I don't want to guess either and then guess wrong and create a whole new problem for you .
Dominique crosses her long legs as she takes a moment to compile her thoughts enough to get them across right.
Domi: Well, I came back to the sport to support my little sister and I'm very happy about how well it's going, we're holding the tag titles, even though she and Bobbi won them I'll still go down in the books as being part of that... but...
She sighs a bit again as she leans back against the couch, closing her eyes briefly.
Domi: Now we have a unique opportunity coming up at like a personal milestone, holding what is essentially a men's title on my own. I can't piggyback on this one. If I want the history books to note that I did this, that I achieved such a victory, I have to do it myself and that means either Bobbi or Eliza will need to step aside.
She looks at Showtime.
Domi: And like I said, I didn't really join for my own glory, even the tag champion accolade just kinda happened to me, but this... it's... different.
Showtime nods a bit. Kinda surprised that this means so much to her after everything she's already accomplished in her career, but Michael is never one to downplay how someone else is feeling and he responds trying to be as supportive as he can.
Showtime: Hey, come on now...
Michael gently places a hand on the tall blond's shoulder.
Showtime: You and Bobbi just tagged up on the last show, there's no reason the two of you can't tag up again for the finals. I know your sister likes to be in the spotlight...but I believe in my heart if she knew what this means to you, she would happily allow you to step up and be apart of this match.
She leans forwards and sighs again, her elbows on her knees as she hangs her head a bit.
Domi: Oh I know all I need to do is ask and she'll back off, Bobbi would do it too, it's not that I couldn't take the opportunity, but that they both deserve it as well. Who am I to steal that away from them? This would mean a lot more for Eliza's career going forward too, she doesn't yet have the history I do and this would be a heck of a highlight to be able to point to... am I selfish for wanting it for myself regardless?
Showtime: Of course not!
Showtime says waving that notion off immediately.
Showtime: Look, anytime you get a chance to win a championship in this business you always want to win it. It don't matter if you've been doing this for a one month or ten years. The desire to just win one more championship always drives you to carry on....
Showtime stops mid-sentence.
Showtime: However....
Michael takes a deep breath and decides to choose his next works very carefully.
Showtime: There's a lot on the line for the three of you in this match. It's the STARDOM Finals. A win gets the three of you a big tournament win and everything that comes along with it. One of you can only become the Television Champion by pinning Equinox in this match. And if you one of you all have the Iceman beat and choose not to take that opportunity because you all are worried about adding another piece of gold to your group, well....it could blow up in your face.
Showtime says being completely honest as he's had situations like this in the past in his own career, and he knows how things work. Dominique nods her head, still leaning on her knees.
Domi: That is also true. There's so much going on, so many moving parts to consider in all this, I also have to be mindful of what combination would be best for winning the match to begin with, so if I insert myself into it at the expense of the team how selfish would THAT be?
She leans back again, her head tilted back as she just stares up at the ceiling.
Domi: I just... want this for me, you know? I'll happily let Eliza have as much time in the spotlight as she wants and support her every step of the way, but even if it's just an off chance that things might work out just right...
Showtime: First off, I don't like you sitting there doubting yourself. That's not the Dominique I know....That's not the Dominique I hired at Ring of Beauty. I have NEVER in all the years we've known each other have I seen you doubting yourself like this. You need to get out of your own head...like....now!
Michael says as he gently places his hand on the tall blond's chin and makes her sit back up to properly face him.
Showtime: You have and always will be good enough. You aren't a weak link, any combination of the three of you can get the job done. Please know that!
Dominique can't help sniffing a bit at Showtime's kind words of support as she smiles at him and leans over, kissing his cheek.
Domi: Thank you. Not that I'd doubt your belief in us, but I appreciate you saying that all the same. I AM probably overthinking this, I know Eliza would never begrudge me for wanting to step in.
Showtime sees Dominique relaxing a bit but unfortunately he needs to bring up another important question that could seemingly stress her out again but it's something he feels like has to be said.
Showtime: Of course not, but here's the thing...What happens if Bobbi or Eliza score the pinfall on Equinox and they become Television Champion, is that going to be something that's going to eat you alive? Or are you going to be able to be happy for them? I don't want to see championships come between what the three of you have built over the last several months...
Dominique's smile fades a bit as yet another angle she hadn't given much thought pops up. She briefly stares at the ceiling again, sifting through her thoughts before she turns back to him and replies.
Domi: ...I don't see me resenting either of them if that were to happen. It's a victory for us all, for every woman in GZWA in a way, and I wouldn't want to deny either of them that or diminish their well-earned happiness over it by being envious.
Showtime: Look, I'm just saying...This isn't some singles match or multi person match where it's everyone for themselves. If any of you three go into this match with the mind set that you will be the one to pin Equinox and no other scenario is acceptable...that's when you all will lose...
Showtime sighs.
Showtime: And then you'll have to defend your tag titles against these two down the road. And they'll already be in your head because you all lose to them once and then I fear the three of you will be bickering about said loss going into the match...
Showtime rubs his own forehead, giving himself a headache just unraveling all the layers of this situation in his own mind. He can certainly see now why Dominique hasn't been able to sleep.
Showtime: Long story short hun, in all seriousness, nothing is more important than just winning this match. The extra championship would be a sweet added bonus, but it shouldn't be the focus of this match at all.
Dominique nods her head in agreement.
Domi: Yeah, I really should stay focused on what's most important in the grand scheme of things, not get all sidetracked by a bauble being dangled in front of me.
She stands up, stretching her a bit as she reaches both arms up, fists clenched, and arches her back a bit.
Domi: All I'm going to do is distract myself and wreck my sleep. Speaking of which, I really ought to see about getting back to it. I definitely wouldn't be doing our chances of victory any favors by not doing my damnest to be ready.
Showtime: Yea, probably not...
Michael nods and stands up as well.
Showtime: Lets go to the kitchen, have a drink and we will all head to bed. Sound good?
She nods again and smiles at him.
Domi: Sounds very good. Thank you for letting me get that off my chest and sort my thoughts out.
Showtime: Hey, think nothing of it...that's what friends are for...
Showtime says as he shuts the television off and heads towards the kitchen.
Showtime: If you need me there tomorrow when you talk to my wife and your sister, you know I will. You don't gotta do it alone if you don't want to.
Dominique smiles warmly as she walks up next to him and yawns.
Domi: I appreciate it, but I think I can handle this on my own like a big girl.
Showtime can't help but chuckle.
Showtime: Very well...but you can't say that I didn't offer.
The two disappear into the kitchen as the scene fades out to black.
