OOC Note: Thanks to Bobbi Jackson and Zora Graysen for their help and permission to use them in this.
The scene opens at Showtime Manor, whereas the Showstoppin’ Senorita herself was invited to train privately by the Bobbilicious One, Bobbi Jackson. Mariah has devoted the past three weeks to prepare for this match by sparring with Bobbi every day for several hours a day.
CONFESSIONAL
Mariah is shown sitting in a mock confession booth, one that many have seen in reality television shows that have become commonplace over the past two decades.
Mariah | Showstoppin’ Senorita: “You guys know Bobbi - former Ring of Beauty competitor and GZWA Vixen. She took a hiatus from the company after Riot Control earlier this year, but I didn’t want her to fall into self-loathing for what she didn’t accomplish while in the company so I asked her to work for me as one of the many trainers I have at Project X that provides training to the next generation of wrestlers in the sport. She’s one of the sweetest women I know and has a heart of gold. I feel bad that she wanted to be the one I direct all of this pent up aggression and frustration as I train for this I have going into this match against my half-brother Jaser. I respect Bobbi too much not to give her my all when we’re training or even in a legitimate match.”
Cameras switch back to a ring within the gym deep within Showtime Manor, where Mariah is locked up with Bobbi. Bobbi overpowers her down to the mat, pinning her shoulders to the mat.
Mariah’s good friend, Zora Graysen, is acting as the referee in this mock contest. She slides into position and begins the count. Zora makes it to the count of two before Mariah monkey flips Bobbi into the corner. Bobbi lands awkwardly into a Tree of woe position as Mariah kips back up to her feet. Mariah charges towards the corner with a series of handsprings and sprung up to connect with a Jumping Elbow Drop as Bobbi sat up from her unfavorable position. Mariah then dragged Bobbi out of the corner by the legs and opted to apply a Texas Cloverleaf. Bobbi kicked Mariah in the spine to prevent that hold from being applied and sprung back to her feet. Bobbi capitalized with an Atomic Drop before reeling back into the ropes behind her and chopping out Mariah’s legs from underneath her with a Chop Block. Mariah doubles over in response as Bobbi moved into position to apply the Show-Shooter (Modified Sharpshooter). Mariah took a page out of Bobbi’s playbook previously and kicks her in the spine to prevent that hold from behind applied. Bobbi is thrown forward into the ropes, where she rebounds from the ropes and comes back at full speed with a high impact Spear just as Mariah kipped back up to her feet. Mariah laid writhing in pain, holding her midsection after the impact as Zora could do nothing but cringe and shake her head at her friend in pain here. Bobbi goes for the pin, but Mariah gets her shoulder up at two once more. Bobbi reminds her that her sibling won’t let up in their match and continues her offense by successfully applying the Show-Shooter. Mariah attempts to reach the ropes to force a break, but Bobbi released the hold in time to stomp her in the spine before deadlifting her off the canvas with a Bridging German Suplex.
Zora: “Come on Mimi! You can do better than this!”
CONFESSIONAL
Mariah | Showstoppin’ Senorita: “I know it looks bad, but we’ve been going at this hardcore for the last few weeks now. I brought this onto myself really. I knew I wouldn’t get anything done if I stayed in New York City in preparation for the PPV. My boyfriend recently moved to the city too and while we live apart, I knew we would have kept each other ‘distracted’ in some manner or another…”
Mariah blushed before continuing.
“He has students to train and have my own along with my duties and responsibilities with my own business endeavors to manage. I have my roommate/secretary Kristine to juggle the small stuff while forwarding my calls out to my iPhone while I’m out. Oh, who’s Kristine? Most GZWA fans should remember her as Sapphire. After her divorce with He Who Will Not Be Named, I offered her a place to stay with me and something to keep her mind off things. Outside her drinking all of my wine, Kristine’s been an asset to me lately. Without her, I wouldn’t be able to take this much private time away from my students at Project X to prepare for my match. If I trained there, I would feel inclined to stop every few minutes to give my students my undivided attention.
I’m sure you’re all wondering why Zora’s here too… I asked her to come along too. She’s had a lot of roadblocks in her life over the past year, so I felt that she would feel a little inspired and motivated after seeing me train for this match. On top of that, I haven’t hung out with these two as much I have liked over the last few months, especially since both of their time away from GZWA.”
She got lost in thought for a moment.
“Maybe Jaser’s right… I surround myself with so many amazing people - male and female - but maybe I don’t devote enough of my time to the people that matter most in my life…”
Cameras switch back to the ring as Zora Graysen made the count. To the surprise of both Bobbi and Zora, Mariah gets her shoulder up before the count of three.
Mariah rolls back to her feet out of the pin and performs a Cartwheel Elbow Drop (Jillian Hall-style), dropping it over Bobbi’s midsection. Mariah shook off the cobwebs and stepped out onto the ring apron. She lines up her crosshairs to the waking Bobbi and launched herself back into the ring with a Springboard Hurracanrana. Bobbi staggered to her feet and caught Mariah out of the air with a Sitout Powerbomb to counter. Zora makes the count, only for Mariah to topple Bobbi over into a pin of her own. Bobbi pushes Mariah off of her body shortly after the count of two. Mariah rolls back to her feet and charges back towards Bobbi and connects with a Running Enzuigiri as Bobbi remained in the seated position. Mariah returned to her feet and sprung off the middle rope with a Lionsault to the grounded Bobbi. Things didn’t go according to what Mariah had in mind as Bobbi had her knees up to defend. Mariah crashes and burns as a result. Mariah is down on her knees, holding her abdomen as Bobbi dragged her into position and performs a successful Pedigree to leave Mariah face-first into the canvas. Bobbi rolls her over and makes a final pin cover. Zora makes the three count.
Zora: “Well… that was interesting wasn’t it?”
Bobbi steps out of the ring and grabs her towel and two bottles of water from the nearby cooler. Bobbi tosses them to Zora and the waking Mariah in the ring before rejoining them between the ropes with one for herself.
Bobbi: “The score is your 2 pinfalls to my 6. C’mon, Marisol, I can easily tell that you’re distracted today - more so than usual if I may add. Something on your mind? Maybe we need to stop for the day and come back when you’re up to it.”
Zora: “I’m not as seasoned as you are Bobbi, but I’m inclined to agree. While you’re both looking good out there, you seem to be just going through the emotions so to speak.”
Mariah took a hard gulp from the bottled water before looking to her two friends sheepishly.
“Jaser’s words from Primetime keep echoing through my mind over the past month. I can’t help but think of it a lot lately. Maybe I should’ve been there for my half-brother more. There was that time earlier this year where I didn’t have his back when Cartier from 4 Corners Wrestling was busting his chops in preparation for their match against each other. I didn’t support him when he faced one of my students, Jessica Sears, either. Maybe I’m not as good of a person that I think I am. I wasn’t necessarily there for neither for you lately either.”
Zora spoke up first, “Don’t you dare even go there, MiMi. When I was in my rut after my loss at Reinas Dos, you were there to help me pick up the pieces and come back harder than before. You even helped me iron out things with Morgane Renaud. I mean, we’re still not the best of friends but at least we’re somewhat on speaking terms.”
Bobbi adds, “From our talks, you know that we both share this weakness of having bouts of self-doubt. Don’t allow that doubt to consume you. We’re here to train - I’m not asking you to beat me for the World title. I want you to be at your best for when you face your half-brother.”
Zora: “It’s clear that he’s sitting with the wrong crowd after taking up with the Clique. Raven’s filled his head up with sweet lies, just like she did to your sister Amber. You already know that nothing that they do really sits well with me. Kind of like seafood doesn’t sit well with me.”
Mariah smiles, “I hear you ladies loud and clear. I just can’t help it to doubt myself sometimes, y’know? Is it a crime to not baby my half-brother? I wanted him to grow into his own man, without having to live within my shadow. That’s the main reason I don’t insert myself into Amanda’s affairs either. She’s a grown ass adult and doesn’t need me to play the part of her mother when she’s got children of her own and a family to provide for. The same goes for Amber as well, but she flocked to Raven as her sympathetic ear as well. At this stage, I’m just over it on falling for Raven’s mind games to clash with me. It’s like a cry for attention. It reminds me of this one girl - I forget her name to be honest - that came into my gym earlier this year and demanded that I fight her. I had a class going at that moment and merely took a dive to satisfy her. I don’t have anything to prove to my students and I don’t need anyone’s approval for how I live my life or conduct my career.”
Mariah downed the rest of the bottled water and looked back to Bobbi.
“Care to continue for one more round? I think I got my head back into the game.”
Bobbi smiles and engages her friend with another lock-up as Zora stood ready to referee this bout once more. Zora watches with anxious eyes to see what is about to transpire. Bobbi overpowers Mariah again, bringing the Showstoppin’ Senorita down to one knee but Mariah twists her wrists as she performs the Charmbracelet (Double Wrist Suplex) to turn the tables and pin Bobbi to the mat. This tactic surprised Bobbi momentarily but she snapped back into action after rolling her shoulder off the mat after the two count. She stood up with the Showstoppin’ Senorita in tow in a Gutwrench Suplex. As Bobbi held Mariah overhead, Mariah punched her over the forehead repeatedly until she was able to flip backwards to escape that fate after Bobbi loosened her grip. Both women stumble back into the ropes in response - first Mariah in response to the impromptu landing then second to Bobbi as she reeled back from the physicality of the attack. Both women then threw themselves off the ropes and charged back to meet each other in the center of the ring. To Zora’s surprise looking on, both women connect with a pair of Super Kicks simultaneously (Bobbi with her own signature Super Kick and Mariah with her signature Heartbreaker (Sweet Chin Music). Both women fell to the mat as Zora immediately asked if they were alright. There was a moment of silence within the gym until an echo of laughter comes over both Mariah and Bobbi.
Mariah: “I think I’m getting my stride back. Whatcha think, Bobbi?”
Bobbi: “Could be. Could be.”
Zora: “I dunno what I’m going to do with you two. But this was a pretty eye opening experience to say the least.”
Mariah smirks as she laid on the canvas, “Keep refereeing the match and help Bobbi keep me focused. I want to give Jaser my best and then some for there won’t be any excuses when I win.”
Bobbi: “I’m glad to hear that because I’m far from done with you, lady.”
The cameras fade out as both women return to their feet, ready for more as Zora stood between them, anxious to see these women continue to push themselves to their limits and beyond.
Static.
A hand is shown adjusting a webcam as Mariah sits down in front of her laptop for the remainder of this self-made interview as she sat alone within her New York City penthouse apartment.
Mariah | Showstoppin’ Senorita: “We’re less than 24 hours away from the last GZWA event for 2018, Dead or Alive, is set to go down. We have talented individuals set to put everything on the line as they seek to settle bitter rivalries, decorated champions - from GZWA Women’s Champion Talia Areano to Queen of Queens Champion Fujiko Mine to the GZWA Tag Team Champions Knightmare INC to the GZWA World & Television Champion Senor Vinnie - seek to continue their legacies as this 2018 GZWA season comes to an end.
I don’t find myself in a title match or thrown into the mix against a hated bitter rival. No, I find myself in a match against my half-brother Jaser Cruz. The very same sibling that accused me of neglect and treating him that I don’t acknowledge that he exists as if he’s the redheaded stepchild of the Cruz family.
I don’t have an ounce of hatred nor ill will against Jaser. I honestly don’t care that he choose to call Raven a better sister figure to him than me. Hearing those words come out of his mouth hurt, but I don’t resent him for it. I’m not perfect, but if he can find solace in someone like Raven being someone that can baby him and provide him with the nurturing and attention that he craves, then so be it.
Maybe I’m wrong and he merely wants my approval for his lifestyle, given the fact that he credits his homosexuality as a “knock against him in life”. Wake up call, lil bro. Amanda’s married to her lesbian spouse and I’m bisexual. We seem to both have gotten through life just fine without many problems. Could all of this be just masking his own shortcomings in his wrestling career up to this point? I hate to be the one who has to say it, but I have noticed a trend in Jaser’s wrestling career. For every bit of success he has seen outside of our business, he has continued to write checks with his mouth that he hasn’t been able to cash when push comes to shove in the ring. I fear that he is falling into the same pitfall that so many people before him has fallen into believing. There’s this common misconception that beating me means instant name recognition and prestige. Time and time again, I have found myself standing across an opponent that has been led to believe that a win against me would turn their whole life around and solve the world’s problems. Beating me will cure cancer, end world hunger, and bring peace all over the world and eliminate all war. As much as I would love to believe that fairy tale, I think we all haven’t taken an ounce of that spiked Kool-aid, not even on our wildest nights. While we’re on the subject of tainted Kool-aid, I hope Jaser and Amber would stop drinking whatever Raven is serving them and listen to the fact that their big sister loves and cares about them. I’m just not going to coddle them like children. No one held me by the hand and gave me kid gloves. I’m tough on my siblings as I expect them - no, I KNOW them to be better than me when I started in this sport.
Besides, if you want spilled tea... You can call my bestie Morgan Davis for that. That's her area of expertise. I don't partake in that extra-curricular activity these days.
Maybe I could call them or visit more outside of the holidays and see them more outside of work? Yes, I agree with that much from what Jaser said on Primetime. In that aspect, I admit that I wasn’t the best big sister. I want to do better.
I plan on changing that at Dead or Alive. Jaser, you have my full undivided attention.
We'll get what we both want when it's all said and done. You want to prove yourself worthy of bearing our family name and make me and the rest of the world notice you while I merely want to see you succeed and challenge me at the best of your ability. You want to beat me? Then bring it. Don't forget you asked for this - whatever happens we're leaving it all in the ring. No excuses, no regrets."
