For over a month Lise Starr has been silent about the events going on in the Ground Zero Wrestling Association. Possibly the most dangerous match of her career took place at Devils May Cry – the inferno match. Even though she may have defeated Mariah she was still burnt. The length of Lise’s long dark brown hair had now just went past her shoulders. Maybe a free “haircut” isn’t a bad thing after, all plus she had accomplished her main goal; defeating her long time rival Mariah in a history making match for women’s wrestling.
“I’ll be very honest here. When Sunny and Sable had announced that I’d be facing Mariah, I felt goose bumps. Really wasn’t such a good feeling. I was pretty scared. There were fears of getting seriously injured or my career ending. My parents had called me almost every day attempting to talk me out of the match. Why I didn’t listen to them? The first ever Inferno match involving women is history making. On the record books seeing my name as the winner made me feel better and each day I became more confident. Yes, I could have been injured but it’s the price you pay in professional wrestling. Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.”
After weeks of more hatred between the two divas the personal assistants of ZX, Sable and Sunny announced a best of three series during the next weeks. The first two matches weren’t match types the rivals were fond of.
“Sunny and Sable need to learn that this isn’t the 1990’s anymore. Today we women wrestlers demand respect and how’s that possible when you’re forced to compete in matches that only should belong in Penthouse. Being stripped to my underwear or being covered in disgusting mud proves nothing to an opponent. It’s basically softcore porn.”
Being victorious at Devil’s May Cry meant that Lise had the opportunity to challenge the GZWA Women’s Champion. The Heartbreaker also shares a history with the current reigning champion Karen Beth Zurich. Both women are former best friends turned enemies.
“Karen Beth Zurich... KBZ... god I have heard that name like a million times in my career. Our rivalry reminds me a bit of Lita and Trish Stratus. Best friends one day and the next day almost killing each other. I’ve had a lot of huge matches with her and I know this will go with them. A chance at the Women’s Championship is why I went through fire and now look at me. I am the number one contender who has a title match this week on Primetime. Maybe you’re even looking at the next GZWA Women’s Champion.”
My first promo in forever.
