(Collaboration RP w/ Zora Graysen )
Mariah sat in her hotel room, looking at her album of collected memories that she happens to carry with her on all of her trips. She thumbs through the pages, this album chronicling everything from her childhood to her humble beginnings in her wrestling career to even her present career in GZWA. She looks at the photo of her holding the Women’s Championship with a fondness, then her thoughts trailing back to Riot Control.
“Am getting too old for this?” She asks herself aloud.
“If you’re getting to old for this, then I’m getting too old for this,” were the words that came out of the mouth of Zora Graysen as she comes prancing into the room with a purple topped cupcake and a sparkly purple gift bag. She plops herself next to her.
“Besides, you’re only as old as you feel.”
Mariah looks surprised, “I can’t believe you remembered that my birthday is tomorrow. Thank you for this.” She took the cupcake and gift bag and set it on the coffee table. She looked back to Zora as her thoughts trailed back to Riot Control.
“I firmly believe that you could have won that match if you weren’t caring for me. I held you back from being the one who would be facing Vi next. Sometimes I can’t help but feel that some of you younger girls are racing circles around me.”
“Mims, friends are a lot more important than winning some silly match. We all know that Crystal is a lying sack of poo anyway and that the only way she can win is to cheat. Crystal’s number is coming up soon… she doesn’t stand a chance against Vi.” Zora smiles as she looks at Mariah.
“Besides, veterans have all the experience and Crystal knows can’t hold a candle to you otherwise without her games. So screw her.”
Mariah sighed, “I know how you feel, especially with all tension between you and Crystal as of late, but I truly believe that she’s trying to do better - at least outside of the ring. In the ring, I don’t trust her as far as I can throw her. Simple as that. I’m going to be watching that match between her and Vi with great interest. Sure, Vi may have lost against Fujiko but this is going to make her even more dangerous as she’s not going to want to lose everything that she’s been fighting well over a year for.”
“I’m sorry but I can’t believe this little dog and pony show she’s got going on because I think that it is one giant farce. I’m thinking she’s trying to make us all believe she’s changing for the better, even going so far as changing her name but underneath she’s still the same. And yeah, Vi is totally going to want to show the world that her loss against Fujiko was a sham as well. Because that’s not the Vi we all know… she’s going to definitely want retribution like I do.”
Mariah shudders a little, “I actually pity anyone who steps into that ring with Vi next. She’s going to be like a woman possessed coming back after that loss. Crystal can play all of the games she wants with us, but that’s going to be a non-factor against Vi. It’s either she goes into that match guns blazing or she’s going to be running into gunfight with a butter knife. Still, I would love to step into the ring with her nonetheless. I just want to see how my skills would measure up against her one-on-one.”
She took a bite out of the cupcake and grins, “Listen to me babbling so much like an old crone. Enough about me, how are you holding up, Zora? Despite the loss, you should be proud of your level of improvement to hang with so many current and returning Vixens. Looks like all of that training and hard work has paid off.”
“I will be the first one to admit that yeah, it did suck to lose YET AGAIN to the cheating ways of Crystal Hilton, but I’m glad that I’m finally starting to feel like everything I’ve done this far has paid off. It has taken me quite a while to get into a good frame of mind where I’m not over thinking every aspect of a match or feeling down and depressed when I lose. I think it’s because I have an amazing support system that includes someone who’s gorging on a cupcake right now.” Zora laughs a little bit as she watches Mariah eat the cupcake.
“Happy birthday by the way. I could never forget a friend’s birthday.”
Mariah finishes the cupcake and laughs, “It’s not until tomorrow, but thanks nonetheless. I’m going to end up torturing myself like hell for that in the morning too. It was delicious, by the way. Don’t kick yourself so much. I find myself second guessing myself and overthinking too much after my matches as well, but if you get too caught up in that train of thought, you can’t ever focus on what’s next, y’know?”
She picked up the bag from the floor. “Do you want me to open it now or wait until tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow’s going to be busy so that’s why I brought it tonight. You can open it whenever you feel like it. Figured you were a little wonky brained like I was and you needed a bit o’ cheering up.” Zora smiles.
“You made quick work of that cupcake.”
Mariah stuck out her tongue and said, “Hey I was hungry! I didn’t think about what I was going to eat for dinner tonight. Just got a little sidetracked.”
She opened the bag and looked inside, her eyes quickly widening with shock and awe. “Oh Zora, you shouldn’t have!” She pulled out a beautifully framed portrait of her and Zora together in a series of photos in a collage from their months of training and bonding together while away from GZWA.
“Girl, yes I did. Friends deserves presents and you got me something on my birthday! I’m also treating you to dinner tonight as I’m getting pretty darn hungry myself. It’s your birthday treat even though tomorrow is technically your birthday.”
Mariah leaned over and hugged Zora tightly while asking, “What did I do to deserve you as a friend?”
Zora shrugged as she hugged her back, "It's nothing. That's what good friends do. Plus you took so much of your time to help me get my head back into the game. I owe you a lot."
Mariah thought for a moment, “I guess we could stay in and order some pizza to be delivered and get room service to bring up some ice cream. We deserve a cheat day with how hard we’re going to hit the gym in the morning before Primetime. Speaking of which, I suppose we need to get a game plan together for our match. It’s not a one-on-one match, we’re in a tag team match. Any ideas on how to tackle this?”
“Ooh that’s a damn good idea. You call room service, I’ll call for the pizza and then we will discuss how much ass we’re going to kick and how we’re going to kick it. Cheat days… they are the best days especially when you’re been busting your booty every single day.”
Mariah playfully smacks Zora on the rear as she gets up for her phone, “Yeah you got a lot more booty back there than me.”
Mariah then reached for her iPhone from the nightstand and dialed the front desk. The order was simple enough - vanilla ice cream and some green peppermint cookies and creme ice cream for added flavor. Mariah could see Zora shaking her head at her choices, but the birthday girl was going to have her way. In the meantime, Zora uses an app on her phone to order pizza from a nationwide chair that had a local branch: pepperoni with bacon, ham & a few pieces of pineapple mixed in for an added punch of flavor.
“The pizza is ordered madam… and a few breadsticks as well.”
Mariah clapped with excitement, “Awesome! We got ice cream on the way as well.”
“I think we should watch the cheesiest chick flick we can find once the pizza gets here. But until then, what were you thinking about for the match?”
Mariah looked deep in thought before replying, “Well, there’s a lot of factors in play here. First of all, there’s the Clique - Raven and my little sister Amber that you were forced to introduce yourself to at Riot Control. They know me well enough, but I suppose our edge there is that they don’t know you.”
“That and you know my strengths and weaknesses in the ring and I know yours. Now I don’t know your sister… and I don’t have a little sister… but from what I understand isn’t it supposed to be the older sisters responsibility to whoop that ass and show her who’s boss?”
Mariah giggles and smiles, “Amber and I have our issues, but she knows that what we do to each other in that ring is nothing but love. She knows I don’t pull any punches, not even for family. Our other cause of concern is dealing with Crystal and Talia Areano. Talia’s good - great even, managing to win several titles around the world. I’m sure she’s kicking herself as much as we were after Riot Control for not performing as well as she would have hoped. My best advice is watch your temper with Crystal. I know you can beat her. You almost got her at Riot Control. It’s just a matter of time, just don’t be reckless. We can’t take Talia lightly either. Remember those two gave the current Tag Team champions a run for their money and came close to winning the titles not too long again too.”
“You know that I can’t make any promises when it comes to Crystal and you know that. And yeah, Talia is a phenomenal competitor. But my focus is going to be on her tag team partner because I want to teach that brat a lesson. And honestly, we make a better tag team than those two of them. But I might be a little bit biased.”
Mariah scratches her head, “Yeah, you focus on Crystal and I’ll take Talia in that regard. Talia might be bummed at me for walking out on our match a while back, so I owe her much.
You really think we could click better as a tag team? I’m glad you have confidence in us too. I didn’t want to sound like we had a big head or anything y’know? I told Bobbi Jackson she might wanna watch out if we ever went after her and those tag titles.”
“Of course I do! It would be really cool to be an official tag team and run rampant amongst the division’s ranks. I really think we could be some serious title contenders because we work well both in and out of the ring.”
“In and out of the ring? What can I say, you make it easy to work with you and have fun at the same time. I don’t ever feel like I have to draw a line between work and my personal life with you. We’re both cut from the same cloth so to speak. That’s something we have over our opponents.”
The pizza delivery and room service arrives at the same time. Mariah picks up a slice of pizza after storing the ice cream in the mini-fridge for it won’t melt and tosses the TV remote to Zora.
“Find us one of those cheesy slasher flicks to watch while we eat, Zora. Maybe we can find one of Crystal’s films to watch too if that’s an option.”
Zora rolls her eyes and smirks, "More like one of her straight-to-DVD movies."
Mariah chuckles, "Savage as usual, Zo."
The two women share a laugh together as the scene fades to black.
